Well, my pellet order from Pyramyd came in today, this is what I ordered--
Beeman Silver Arrows, Kodiaks, FTS's, and Crow Mags, JSB Exact Jumbo's, H & N Baracuda Match, JSB Predators, and RWS Superdomes.
This gives me a range of weights from 14.5 gr. (Superdomes) to 21.14 gr. (Barracuda's). Except for the Crow Mags, no repeats from the ones I chronied last weekend. Tonight, I was just shooting for accuracy, no chrony. And I must say, the results were surprising. Shooting at 20 yards, the best pellets were all light weights. The best of the new pellets was also the lightest, RWS Superdomes. Second best were the cheap Daisy match pellets I picked up last weekend. The Beeman FTS was okay, but everything else looked more like shotgun patterns. One thing I have to say about this rifle, if it doesn't like a particular pellet, it throws them all over the place. Kodiaks and Barracuda's are essentially the same pellet, but surprisingly enough, it didn't seem to like either one. And the Exacts were no better. And I used to think my CFX was picky! With Superdomes and Daisy's, I could keep the group size at or just under 1/2". I know, nothing to get too excited about, but everything else was opening up to 2" or more. Or they just weren't consistent. I had one tight group from the Silver Arrows, but everything else was shotgun city. At present, this thing is showing a marked preference for light weight pellets. It also seems that the pellets that shot the best were the ones that slipped into the barrel, rather than needing to be pushed in. The first shot from the Predators showed promis, nailed the bull. After that, not so good. However, they did group better than the Kodiaks, so it'll be interesting to see what happens when I feel like I'm ready to extend the range.
Interesting note, I'd sighted the rifle in at 20 yards yesterday with the Daisy pels. Since I was only interested in groups, I never made any scope adjustment tonight. First shot with the Daisy's was a bull, then the rest moved left about 2 moa. I think I mentioned yesterday that my scope is currently suspect. It'll be interesting to see what, if any, changes happen when my new scope an mount arrive.
Guess that's all for now, I doubt I'll have the time for any more chrony testing 'til this weekend. BTW, I'm still fighting the trigger. My adjustment doesn't seem to hold, I'll get it just where I want it for a few shots, then it changes. And it always goes to less (lighter) second stage. To get it to hold, I have to set it for a heavier second stage than I want, or I end up with no second stage at all. I'm about ready to pull the trigger group apart and polish everything in sight. Anyone have a really good exploded diagram of an RWS trigger? Later, people.
