Question for CFX owners
« on: August 03, 2008, 02:44:19 PM »
I just watched Paul "The Airgun Reporters" lost video and here is my question. He chrono'd it at between 10 to 12 ft lbs with heavy pellets. Is that about right or does that seem low?

Thanks
Nathan

Where I tape the show in the mountains, I'm up about 2600 feet above sea level--this is going to cause a velocity hit of a few percent--perhaps even as much as 8%!

edit: I keep forgetting to put the elevation data on the screen when I edit the chrony testing portion!

I have four CFX's - two of which have been to CDT for a tune (both in .177). I would never shoot heavy pellets in any springer, much less a Gamo CFX. One of my .177's is in the high 800's and the other is in the mid 900's with RWS Super Domes and about the same with similar weight pellets. As we all want to stay sub-sonic, I am happy with anything in the range of my two guns. The guns picks up speed after a 1000 pellets or so.

I agree,,,, I shoot only mid range weight pellets in my 2 CFX's as well as my other springers.

I have it on good authority, nothing over 9 gr. In mine I shoot between 7.9 gr and 8.6 gr. There are plenty of choices in this range. CPL's, Super Domes, Tomahawks, Exacts. These seem to give me the best results. Hope this helps.

Where is this "Lost video" of Paul testing a CFX?  I love those videos!! Was it a .177 or a .22?  My CFX in .22 is a little light in the power department and it shoots in that same range.  That's why I was planning on getting it tuned to kinda straighten out the trajectory somewhat.
