Dang, you knocked its teeth out! Good pic :)
So it must have been pretty close I take it..
The dumbest nutter I 've ever had was when I was target shooting with my 350 .22 the day after I got it. I was outside with my table and rest shooting away and zeroing the scope. About 30-40 pellets later, this squirrel walks right up to me from my side and stops no more than 6ft away from my chair looking at me. I turned around and pointed the 350 at it from the waste. He stands up and checks it out for a few secs. I look around for neighbors since I was close to the driveway so I could shoot beyond 30yds towards the back, but then I thought "naahh.." hehe. He then hops a few feet away and digs up my lawn a little looking for food. He hung around within 15-20ft for 1-2min. I never intended to shoot it, I just laughed, but the thought was there for a moment :) I don't think I could have shot it that close if I wanted to. But probably just pointing the gun in its general direction without looking through a blur in the scope, would have done the job :-) I didn't feel it was challenging enough I guess.
I 've let a few of them go that walked into my line of fire when I 'm practicing or when they just walk up and are too close. I need to feel some challenge, like I 've worked for it a little :) It was especially tough during the spring & summer (out of season). It seemed every time I was aiming at a Starling or Grackle, a squirrel would be a few feet away or walk right in front of my sights. I also did it because I wanted their numbers to bounce back and reproduce after the hurt I put in their population last season.
