Same conclusion I came to looking at the pics.  Take a look at the underside of the fore-stock, though. Is that a bench shooting model?

forestock rail
« Reply #31 on: September 12, 2008, 07:55:30 AM »
the rail is there for various forestock accessories; hand stop, sling, hand rest, etc.
What you can/cannot use depends on what you are shooting, example std 10m AR cannot use a sling, 3 position you use a sling in prone and I think also kneeling.

It'll stay this way for the foreseeable future...

I'd like to research diopter sights but am having trouble finding much info on the Internet.  I'll look in the library here after making this post....haven't done that search yet.

-the server i use for storing pics modifyed the coding system, so i'm testing the new codes here too-

Vogels

Go ahead and try the Vogel Sport/Orange, that is what I usually use.
I don't shoot good enough to warrant going up to the Vogel Match/Green.

When I tried the Vogel Sport in my scoped FWB-300 at 10m, I could not miss my targets.  In fact I reduced the size of the targets just to make it more "interesting."  I got to the point that I need more magnification, to see and aim at the target, before I can give it a harder test.

magnified wobble
« Reply #37 on: September 15, 2008, 05:23:41 PM »
Are you talking about me?    :-)

Anyway, I used to shoot the Straight Shooters Silhouette and Challenge shoot.
I tried a few times with a scoped rifle in the standing position....UGH.
You thing your wobble is bad.
The magnified movement of my wobble was giving me visually induced motion sickness.
I had to crank the scope DOWN to the min magnification, and even 3x seemed too much.
But better yet was using the diopters with ZERO magnification.

The wobble is the same, but because I did not see it MAGNIFIED, the hold seemed steadier, and I was able to shoot better.

Good.  A copy is on the way to me from Pilks now.

Thanks...but I don't know enough about them yet to ask.  The owners manual shows a few options for changing the ring inserts as well as something that looks kinda like an ocular.

Much easier to load now.

The 603 Jr.stock  looks like an Ambi model ...cocking lever where it needs to be for a righty.

Man that is one of the "kitchen sink" rear sight accessories.
Looks like diopter adjustment, iris diameter adjustment, different color filters, maybe a polarizing filter, and I don't know what else.
- iris diameter is used like the iris in your eye, the darker the range the larger the iris, the brighter the range the smaller the iris
- colored filters are for different light conditions (indoor, sunny, cloudy, etc), different colors are supposed to make the target easier to see, some people like them others don't
- polarizer, similar to a polarized sunglasses in effect

I have two of the simpler ones; one with just the iris adjustment, and one with iris and colored filters.
Since my shooting glasses is already yellow, I don't use the colored filters.  Turns out my preferred adjustment for the iris is the same as the stock fixed diameter iris.

Thanks for looking Gary.  I don't need this option now.

I am curious as to what is inside the odd shaped rear sight that came with the gun but don't think I need to open it up.  I love shooting this rifle.

also "Air Rifle Shooting"
« Reply #43 on: September 16, 2008, 03:08:32 PM »
Did you also see the book "Air Rifle Shooting"  ?

http://www.pilkguns.com/books.shtml

I have both books, and just starting to read AR Shooting.
You can do just fine with just "Ways of the Rifle."
AR Shooting seems to be a little more refined, and obviously more tailored to AR, I think because it was done after "Ways of the Rifle."

There is a LOT of info in the book and it is very easy to get overwhelmed.
Take it easy, and stop often to practice what you read.
