Bushnell Legend or Niko Pro Staff

Your opinions gents? Going to e scoping a MM tuned B26.

I remembered I had $100 of BassPro gift card, so I'd prefer to use that, I started looking there for scopes, these seemed to be the best in the price range I'd like to spend, which is less than $200.

Bushnell Legend:

4-12x40mmAO - 3.5'' EYE RELIEF -FOV = 31'-10'
MATTE - MULTI-X RETICLE - 17.3 OZ - 14.4" - $159.94

3-9x40mm 3.5'' EYE RELIEF - FOV = 36'-13'
MATTE - MULTI-X RETICLE -
14.5 OZ 13" $129.95

The optics are fully-multi coated, with a 91% light transmission.
I'm concerened about weight, length and function, are they suitable for air rifle shooting and then which mounts would you suggest to go with them.

BassPro has several brands in the $100-$200 range, and the choices are quite bewildering for a newbie like myself.

Also on offer in my price range are the Nikon Pro-Staff Rifle scopes;

3-9x40mm
3.6" EYE RELIEF
FOV = 33.8'-11.3' - MATTE
NIKOPLEX RETICLE
13.1 OZ - 12.3" - $149.99

They also have the same scope with "Ballistic Droop Reticule" for $10 more?  Not sure what this reticule woukd do for air gunning?

Thanks for your time and advice

Band bang, pop pop, you\'re dead and I\'m not.

John, I have a Bushnell Legend 5-15x40 on my FX Cyclone.  Great scope!  Clear, sharp optics, excellent light transmission, clicks are solid, audible/tactile, and accurate.  Mine has a mil dot reticle, I think that's only available on the 5-15.  AO is good down to about 7 yards.  I think these may be one of the best bangs for the buck in the under $200 price range.  The only question mark would be springer use, I don't know if they'd handle the pounding.  I believe I read somewhere that ALL Bushnells are springer rated, but I'm not sure if that's true.  I do know the Legend is popular among FT shooters on a budget, especially HFT.  Sorry, that's Field Target and Hunter Field Target competition, if you're not familiar with the terms.  The only "issue" I have would be a small amount of fish eye effect at higher mags, typical of wide angle lenses.  Not a complaint, it's really not a problem, just noticeable so I figured I'd mention it.  Length and weight are comparable to the two you mentioned.  I'd go for the 4-12, I always felt that was a perfect power range for a springer.  If you like/prefer mil dots, I think the 5-15 is you only option.  Hope that helps, and good luck.

Dave

In my opinion guys the Bushnell scope are ok for most springers. I am sure some of the magnum springer's would probably tear up most scopes. I have a few Bushnell scopes that I have on my non magnum springers that are holding up fine. Dave there is a link that shows which scopes are best for springers and I will try an find it and post it here.

For the B26 any of the Bushnell scopes will work. Save the money and buy the Banner 4-12x40 a nice 1 piece mount and spend the rest on pellets. lol Your making a good choice I had a 4-12x40 legend mounted it on my R-9 never shot it found 2 Simmons ProAirs sold the Bushy kept the 2 Simmons. Just personal preference and little money issue hehehe.
