ALL MEMBERS READ THIS
« on: September 21, 2008, 11:53:26 AM »
One of our “members” for lack of other terminology, has created a lot of unneeded and unwanted controversy. He was sent a warning. That person is Mahonri. Both Gene and I have had quite a few e-mails over the last several days and a couple have went so far as to say that the GTA is beginning to become a real sink hole and another referred to it as becoming a garbage pit by and not only by Mahonri  but also a few others.  Two of those e-mails were from fairly long term good members that stated that we were losing control, that our forum isn’t what it used to be, and that if we couldn’t control our forum, and they were going to leave.

It is a shame but I have neglected the forum for some time and I guess that makes it partially my fault.

Another thing that has been pointed out to me quite frequently lately is the language used or implied. If you need to insert characters in words that are foul, I suggest that you find the appropriate words or terminology for your posting. Do not be surprised to see your post or responses either edited or removed and a warning regarding it.

I’m going to tell you something. Gene and I have worked hard to make this a “Great Place To Be” and I’ll be damned if I’m going to let a couple of uncouth  narrow minded idiots destroy something that Gene, myself and all of our other long time members (no disrespect to the short timers meant” have done to make our forum what it is today.

The “Back Room” is an area of/for open discussion but should be used with open minded questions or comments that are not politically or religiously motivated to intentionally create controversy. Personally, if it were up to me, political and religious posting would not be allowed as they do quite often create an atmosphere of heated controversy that can easily get out of hand and can quite often be very offensive to many people.

To the moderators … You have a duty to perform.  If you see profanity or *_*_*_*_*_*ually implicit post, you should delete it immediately. Don’t worry about offending someone. If you see something that is offensive or poor “conduct” notify Gene or myself immediately. We will make a decision and take the appropriate action.

We will not let our forum become a “garbage pit” or a “sink hole” or lose a lot of good members because of a few people that do not have much sense, low morals or and little integrity.

I'm sure that there will be a few of you that don't like this but that's just the way it is.

Finally…. The last thing that I want to hear and see is somebody jumping up on their soapbox and start screaming their “freedom of speech” crap. If you don’t like it and your morals and integrity are that low then go somewhere else that does have your view of “freedom of speech” because that is where you belong and we don’t need you here.

This is a first for me. Never been accused of turning any place into a garbage pit before.

Well... there was that apartment in college, but I don't wanna talk about that.

Y'all stay cool. I'll be diggin' around in the trash bags for dinner.

Bob, I have no problem with what you just posted.  I apologize to all that were offended by what I said in the last couple of days.  I joined this forum to learn more about airguns, share what little I know and I will keep it in that context from now on.

Lesson learned.

Thank you Bob and agreed. GTA opens it's door's to new members everyday but we should never forget what made this Airgun Forum so special, the way that we treat and respect our fellow family members and the way we represent ourselves here. GTA is a reflection of us all, let's show basicly the world! what makes this place so GREAT! and truly "one of a kind". Ed

Agreed Sir, you said everything I have been thinking for the last few days.  There's a big difference between a healthy debate and an all out war and some of us  have blurred that line.  Thanks for squaring us away:)

The GTA 'is a Great Place to Be',....let us all keep it that way. A positive attitude is something we should all up-hold, and is paramount to our very exsistance. Let's (as I frequently say) get back to basics,....our kindred spirit in air actuated weapons! Whether it be for sport or hunting, keep things in perspective folks,...share our knowledge, experience, and our acceptance of any and everyone involved with our beloved activity,...most importantly for the next generation of air-gun enthusiast. As true followers of our favorite activity, we should all act in a decent and mature fashion, and over come such triffle and trivial issues as the ones that have preceded in the last few days. GTA should be something we can all participate in regardless of age, *_*_*_*_*_*, color, religion, or political affiliation. Sure we all have our differences, but the one common bond we share is air-guns and the continual growth of our sport. Think positive brothers and sisters, and convey that attitude towards one another. The next generation is dependant on it. Best Wishes to all, and Happy Shooting. Respectfully Yours, Thomas

Did not know there was any scarf between members, but you are gonna get it from time to time cause all of us'uns get on a rant every now and then. I do feel that if you want to use curse words where most of the letters are deleted that it gets your point across more vividly, but this ain't my forum to run, so I don't have any say so in the content. Remember we all are gonna rant sometime ( cause our wife got on our buitochs for somethin). Anyway sorry for you guys with the negatory attitude, but it is yours not ours.

Awwwwww, but it was so much FUN blurring the lines. And after all of Mahonri's posts, I thought the Back Room was a gloves off, no holds barred, anything goes, free for all. I must have thought I was on some "other" forum.  ;')
Well, that's why I don't usually post in the back room. Because the thin skinned will get offended, and god forbid anyone get offended these days.
These are the reasons I don't discuss faith or politics with friends or family.

Bob, Gene, since I KNOW you two are monitoring this thread. How about a Weihrauch gate? There seems to be precious little HW info here, and I don't like to go anywhere else for my airgun info fix.

Guilty as charged. I really think after seeing how bad it has gotten by my own doing on a couple of post I started, I'm going to refrain from any and all post dealing with politics, the war or the upcomingelection. Religion I won't even touch! I feel it is even more volatile than politics.Bob we are all at fault here. You and Gene started this GREAT place but it is as much the members responsibility to police the different gates as much asthe moderators. You can't be everywhere all the time. Now on a lighter note can I get a public defender cause I can't afford an attorney to defend me!

Well, I am glad I missed the brewhaha.

By the way, Bob.  I took three squirrels with that Dianna 48 you tuned for me.  I sure wish you were still doing them, I'd have my RS-2 off to you.
