GTA Forum Color Format...................................
« on: June 20, 2006, 07:24:50 AM »
It was brought to Charlies and my attention that the color scheme of the GTN forums could bother other new members that have joined this forum from another forum "Yellow Forum". It seems that some members have a bad taste in there pallets after being excommunicated.

I want all of you to know that when Charlie and myself set this forum up that we thought that the yellow would be a good transition for members from the yellow forums when they come here to post etc.

But since there have been so much bitterness about the GTN forum opening its doors we now think we should change the format.

I want you all to know that amongst all the nasty stuff going down that we had not given it a thought until Len, sent me a private message about the color of your forum and how it brought back bad memories of the last forum he was in. "yellow forum".

One of main reasons why I wanted to post this is that the suggestion of color change came from one of us. A fellow forum member ".Len" . Put the credit where the credit belongs. Our ears and eyes will always be open for any reasonable suggestions from any member of GTN.

Charlie and me want all of you to know that this is your forum and the members that participate and take part in the construction of a great forum will always be heard. That will never change.

Charlie and me thank  Len for his suggestion.

I think being bothered by "yellow" is as petty as "that other stuff".
your color choice is pleasant and easy for my old eyes to read
text on, unlike some---red on black--hell I can't even read that stuff.
I like everything about GTA, it's all we need (and Da Tuna back )
thanks for the soap box

my eyes are about like yours. The only reason I use a scope is so I can see the front sight on the barrel. Gene and I sat down today for the first time together and it took us quite a while to get a color combo that either of us could see :D

And Len... thanks for opening our eyes..lol..

You don't waste any time. An excellent choice of colour - very easy on my eyes as well.

As a bit of an explanation to  weirdharry, my suggestion to Gene was twofold - often a forum is referred to by it's background colour - for example, the Crosman forum is called the "green forum", the forum formerly known as the James Kitching forum was/is called the "yellow forum". This could lead to some confusion, with two "yellow forums".

Thus, we now have the "beige forum", which can establish itself on it's own merits, without the possibility of adverse effects of being confused with the YF.

The second part is as Gene states - there are a lot of folks fed up with the YF, so best to eliminate any similarity whatever.

I have to admit that my old eyes have a hard time reading the fairly light blue text on the yellow background.
I don't care about the yellow, I never called the FS forum the yellow forum anyway. Actually, until this very instant, I never saw that they had their own URL separate from network54!
But a little darker text here would make it easier for me to read.

we will see what we can do with the color or size of the fonts. Thanks for expressing your concern. We hope to make this site viewable for everyone. Stick with us Jack and we will sort this out.

Thanks

So far, this is more enjoyable than other forums I look at. I stress "look at", because I rarely posted elsewhere.
I am a plinker, not at all competitive by nature, I just enjoy airguns. And lately have taken them back up again more due to health reasons. I can shoot my airguns in my basement. But I have to lug my flintlocks across the city, out into the country to the club range, put up with all the folks who manage the club (HIGHLY competitive people!), and spend time cleaning the guns when I get home. So 50-75 shots at the range with my .70 flintlock usually requires 4 hours of total time. 50-75 shots with any of my airguns is just picking one up, putting in a fresh target and plinking away in the comfort of my own home for an hour or so. Yesterday, I shot 20 pellets over about 15 minutes and had a ball.
I do want to get out to shoot with some folks I ran into on another forum though. It's just that the past two weekends were either me playing at a club or being at a Blues festival.....no morning shoots for me then. This weekend I hope to meet these other guys from my area and get outside to shoot again.
Hmmmm.......did I mention that I ramble on a bit?

Black is as dark as I can get the text but...........

I have increased the text size by 1px. Lets see how this works out. If some of the other members complain because of the size of the text then we will have to make more changes... :)

Let us know if this is any better.

I like the larger text and really don't feel one way or the other about the color so it's good by me.

Color is fine with me.  Now if I could just figure out why my scroll button doesn't work on this forum. I'm using 1024 x 768 screen resolution.  Was the site setup created with a higher resolution?

Scrolling.............
« Reply #14 on: June 21, 2006, 02:14:49 PM »
I set this up for 1024X768 pixels Sundance. I have no problem scrolling my pages and I use Windows IE. When I set this forum up I tested this with Netscape, Mozilla, Mac Simulated IE and Windows IE. I could have missed something and only posts like yours will help me recheck my code.

Does anyone else have a problem scolling. Let me know..
