My new QB 79
« on: October 03, 2008, 03:40:51 PM »
I finally got my first QB 79 and I am very pleased about it. Sorry that I have no pix yet but it is very nice looking rifle. I honestly didn't expect it would be that nice. No scratches, no dents. I ordered it from Archers and it took two weeks for it to get here. Ordered adapter for 88gram bottle and on/off valve and installed it all. I didn't expect it would be that powerful and accurate. Of course it is not as powerful as my Webley Patriot but what I like about it is that there is no recoil.
Thanks to some of you and especially Mike Melick with nice advise on how to tune it. I can't express how greatful I am to Mike for all that staff that he mailed to me to tune it: o-rings, vale tool and ice maker tube.  I took it all apart and polished what needed to be polished like Ribbonstone suggested and did bolt proe mode and did turn out to be nice shooter. It is actually very easy gun to work on and I thank you guys for your help.
Went to paintball shop today and bought 9oz bottle hoping that the one they have will fit under the barrel. It did but ppretty tight and I just went ahead and bought remote for it and connected the gun to the bottle that way and shoots just fine.
Thank you again and I will post some pix when I have camera on me

The 9oz bottle is too tight on the '79 unfortunately.  The one I picked up second hand had one forced on and had bent the barrel.  Sorted it OK but I use a paintball preset on/off now in conjunction with 88g Airsource + adapter and that way I can refill the 88g from my bulk source.  Done that way you won't have to leave the remote attached.

Steven, I like the red marks painted on your on/off valve. I will add those to mine so I know, with a quick look, when the valve is open or closed. Simple and effective.

I'm glad that you're happy with the new QB79! We've some nice ones in stock and many folks are surprised at the improvements in quality that Shanghai Airguns have made over the years. Happy shooting, accessorizing and tuning!
