Just a nutter
« on: October 10, 2008, 03:26:58 AM »
For the last several days I've come down with a cold bug so I took some time off from my night hunts to get healthy but cabin fever got to me today. I loaded up the B26 Sporter and headed over to Squirrel City, the resident kept asking me when would I be back to bring down the overpopulation. Still feeling a little underzen I arrived there and proceeded to head for cover with a CPHP chambered instead of a Predator. The CPHP has served me well in the past for squirrel hunting and the B26 loves em too. The squirrels were doing their usual thing with trips back and forth to the bird feeders so when I reached the treeline I just slide behind one and waited for a clear shot to present itself. He hopped from a limb right onto the feeder and began to help himself to the feed and knowing my yardage from this spot, I touch under thirty I raised her into position and just then he turned and looked right at me. Crosshairs were already set with him giving me that slight angle with one eye visible I sent him the HP. I heard the solid impact nice and clear and then watched him drop without a struggle to the ground. I couple death kick's and he expired so I reloaded in hopes of another clear target but the rest went into stealth mode and vanished into the tree's. I did a walkabout through the woods for a spell but the word was out so I made my way back to my little harvest, getting used to those bigger night critters lol and set him up for his first photo shoot:) With him cleaned and myself feeling somewhat slow I headed out and chatted with the resident for a minute. I'll be back and start hitting em hard I explained and informed him that I was also doing night critter patrol. Just when you get used to the dark out comes the light hehehe. Ed

Nice shooting!  Looks like he's got a black eye...    or is intoxicated!  I'm usually at work when Melissa calls and tells me the squirrels are out snaggin' our pecans.  I'm waiting to use the HW90...   she doesn't have a kill yet.  Gas-rams and Polymag's...    it's a BEAUTIFUL thing!

Good going!
