I had a Stock Talon SS, 18" barrel. Adjusted the Tophat and Powerwheel. I got Mid 900's consistently with a 2800 PSI Fill and Crosman Premier Heavies.

Straight outta the box I set the power wheel at around 10 and I was getting mid to high 800's with the same pellets. Not very consistent. But close enough to do the job.

Supersonic every shot with Gamo Raptors and no adjustment other than the power wheel set at 9.5

A 24 inch barrel should put a standard weight pellet well into the supersonic region on a mid setting.

Mine preferred heavier pellets. Heavier the better. Kodiak's were the best, followed by Eun Jin heavies.

Marvin, Jeff (longislandhunter)is getting 925-940fps with his .22 Talon 18" barrell,he gets about 30-35 shots before he notices a drop-off in velocity......if you were to set it on low power, you should get an easy 65-80 good shots......

I got about 28-30 shots on a 3000 PSI fill, and 20-25 on a 2800PSI fill.

On the 3000 PSI fill shot velocity rose and fell on a fairly steep bell curve. At the plateau of the curve I got about 12-15 full power shots, then velocity slowly dropped.

At 2800 PSI however, the first 15-18 shots were full power then they started dropping.

I was VERY happy with the rifle! I LOVED it. She was my Go-To gun the entire time I had it. I would've kept it if I had some means OTHER than a hand pump to fill the tank.

Accuracy wise, it was almost Boring to shoot. Once I got it dialed in, I could shoot dime sized groups at 50-60 yards with Kodiaks and a light breeze.
Running on CO2, I got LOTS of shots and accuracy was dime to quarter sized at 50 yards.

I have a post here showing what one can do on CO2 at 50 yards. A very IMPRESSIVE rifle indeed!

Marvin, you are better off with the SS if you prefer the .177..it has the 12" barrel & will be about 100fps slower than the Talon which comes with the 18" barrel,The SS is equipt with the shroud which makes it more neighbor friendly......I have the SS in .20 & I think it's a great caliber in that gun....

Hehe, Marvin, I told you....talons aren't many people's cup of tea at first....

I have the one SDale is talking about, however it is a .22 12" barrel right now. It gets 800 fps with Premiers. I am still playing with power wheel ant tophat adjustments.

I shot about 30 rounds today without a POI drop.

I know I want at lest the 18 barrel if not the 24 . I want to go for 80 - 100 yards  and I want to keep the FPS at 1000 + or - so as not to get to much poi drop yet not hit the sound wall as well  . I just don't know if the 18 barrel will do it . Also Chris my mind is not totally made up . The sumatra 2500 is in the works and it comes with a peeper  and it is a multi shot as well .If the Career 300 III came in .177 it would be in the run as well . The Talon or may be it was the Condor that I have heard a lot of cons about and I don't want a rifle I have to play with all the time . I don't mind getting them dialed in with a little work but I don't want to have to deal with issues all the time . Also I don't want to get into the $600 plus range either . I have not tried real hard to sale or trade my springers but things seem to just be sitting in the classifieds right now . So I don't want to go over that amount .Marvin

Marvin, I don't think there are a lot of issues with any AirForce rifles. They are very good out of the box. People who tinker with them are looking for perfection, most efficiency and power. I have heard alot of good things about Korean rifles as well. I like the flexibility of Talon, you can have 1 frame and tank and half a dozen barrels in 4 calibers to go with it!

Marvin, the SS with 12" barrel is gonna get you right where you want to be,if you go with the 18" -24" your going into supersonic velocity that you don't need,,,,you don't have to do anything to the gun,it is fine right out of the box,I'm sure Chris is working his for his preference, not because it needs work........you don't have to spend $600 if you contact me....that I'm positive about!!!!!

Joe I know the Talon will not cost $600 but other than what I have listed here I know of no other choices. Any thing in the BSA or AA line is going into the area that I do not want to go in to . I am only basing my barrel length my what I see P.A. has the FPS liisted at and most listing are high . That is why I asked for in  put on the form . They state the 18 inch is 1100 fps and the ss is 1000 fps so I figured that the real figures would be 100 - 200 FPS slower .Also I want to use at lest a 10.5 weight pellet .  Marvin

No, with the talon/condor those numbers are accurate.  Most people get in the 800fps range in .22 with a talon ss (12 inch barrel), so in .177 it would be in the 900-1000 range with normal pellets, right where you want to be.  The talon ss with 12 inch barrel would fling a 10.5gr. pellet at approximately the speed of sound on full power.  You would love them if you got one, they are incredibly accurate!  My condor gets 1200fps with a kodiak easily.

Marvin,,, Larry is correct about the FPS,in fact if it's listed at 900 fps, most likely it's doing more.....I never liked these guns,,,I was just plain ignorant.....now I luv em,,,,,can't wait for Christmas.....I hooked my girlfriend up with a bigger place to live,I need a bigger gun to shoot..LOL!
