Would it be wrong of me?
« on: November 02, 2008, 01:42:10 AM »
A buddy of mine was recently given a B-3. He brought it over the other day and asked if I could make it shoot better. I told him I would and may even get rid of the brown house paint, on the stock to. Well I got the insides squared away and was going to leave it at that, since this stock was also bad out of shape. Full of dips, high spots and the pad was 1/2" off. I was bored this AM, so I stripped it anyway and can't believe what I found. I've stripped several stocks, but this thing is gorgeous. I've got another stock, so would it be wrong for me to keep this one. The only thing he was going to do was spray with bed liner, if he did that.

Yeah, it's a freebie and the other stock is already refinished.

It seems pretty simple to me. Ask your friend if he cares if you switch stocks. Life is better when you can sleep at night ALWAYS knowing you did the right thing. Just my opinion.

All I can say Mike, is ask him if it's O.K. with him !

I know if it were me, I'd always feel bad, if I didn't ask, and just traded stocks, without asking him.

I know I would tell you to take it, if it were me, as long as you were trading me a good stock.

Mike, if you need a stock for that B3 I’ll give you one that is much better than the one you are referring to. In fact, you can have your choice of one that is already painted or one that is coated with “beautiful” Chinese varnish.

I agree with Big Bil, Mike. Regardless if you are doing it for free you really should tell him what you are doing. You have a reputation to protect and if something went wrong and he found that you did switch stocks you may very well lose his trust.

By all means tell him what you found, after all you referred to him as "A Buddy". Who knows, he may be reading this thread, and you never know who may be wondering what kind of guy you are for future endeavors.

That's just my opinion on the deal.......

I try to follow this...........Matthew 7:9-12

I actually talked with him, before I made this post. He dosn't care as long as it shoots better. I'll post some pics, when it's finished.
