Fixing draw drapes?
« on: November 26, 2008, 02:57:29 AM »
I figure the guys here are pretty handy and knowledgeable so here a real off topic question. Anyway years ago my DAD (bless him) who had Alzheimers took the draw drape rods apart for whatever reason and did not rethread them correctly-only one side pulls. Of course he took them both apart so I do not have a working rod to go by to see how to rethread them. I tried Googling but no useful information on my searches. So I am wondering if anyone here knows of a source for directions on how to restring them so they draw correctly. I figure they all work the same way so maybe I can finally fix them with some help. Thanks and Happy Holidays.

It's been years but here goes, thread string into outside hole over pulley, run all the way to the other side around pulley, run to pulley in the center, back to outsidepulley then across again to near side then to middle then to pulley and hole.....maybe I don't have a set in the house anymore....

My answer is only two words:

MINI BLINDS!

Thanks I will give it a shot sometime soon--the rods are 30 years old but they did work until----Right now only one side will pull and the other needs to be moved manually. I don't believe a single blind would be big enough and until we move out there or I decide on new windows or whatever, the draw drapes will stay. Although I would like blinds with the drapes. The slack is not being picked up on the manual side--it is just hanging in a big loop.

It's hopped off a pulley some place, you might want to rethink blinds, I know you will after the first time you have to clean them.....
