Will I need to re sight in my gun all the time. Cause I will need it sighted in for 30 yards. so if I just want to shoot wont I and use domes, wont I need to re sight in my scope for the domes. And then re sight in for preds when I want to hunt?  What is the cheepest place to get the predators?

Pellets vary from gun to gun. Best thing to do is to sight in with your predators.  I'm only guessing, but I assume your gun will shoot them @850fps. depending on your scope, you should probably sight them in at @ 15 yds. That way you'll hit zero again at 36yds, and have a decent "kill zone"  throughout the pellet's trajectory from 10-45 yds. you can download the free software at http://www.chairgun.com - if you know your velocity, it's a great tool for understanding pellet ballistics. After you sight the predators in, experiment with different pellets to see which ones will stack on or pretty close to them. My B26 .22 will stack RWS Superdomes on top of the predators, while my .177 whisper will stack the JSB Exacts on the predators. Make sure you use a pellet seater - you can make one with an airsoft BB, super glue, and a ball point pen. Use it to push the pellet flush into the breach.

RWS air rifles are supposed to be superb guns the only drawback that I keep hearing is the barrel droop on some guns and plastic triggers, otherwise a good quality German gun..

Sorry but what is barrel droop. I dont care that the trigger is plastic, I just love that its adjustable.  And jables61, Your saying I can sight in shooting at 15 yards and it will still shoot right on the money when I shoot say 30 or 35 yards?         And Im gonna make one of those pellet seaters right now.

yup. because the scope is elevated above the muzzle, the pellet will "climb" to your zeroed yardage. For instance, if you sight it in at 10 yds, to hit a target 15 yds away you'd have to aim an inch LOWER (I know, threw me for a loop too) I'll plug in your specs with predators and show you on the graph. So if you sight it in at 13.5 yds, the pellet will reach it's zenith (highest point) at 24yds, and then back down to zero at 34.3 yds. That's assuming the pellets are leaving the muzzle at @800fps, and your scope height is 1.5 inches.

First time I ever heard of "barrel droop" in 54 years of shooting everything from .22 shorts to elephant guns (w/ a little military high-power along the way) was 6 weeks ago/Thanksgiving when (on a whim) I picked up a Benjamin SuperStreak.

Those last six weeks (and two more airguns) have proved a real (re)learning experience -- and the first time I ever ran into either (A) shaking a scope and its base loose, and (B) running out of 'up' on a scope adjustment.  The last -- running out of upward adjustment is because of barrel "droop" wherein the barrel has a downward sloping cant from the line of the receiver where the scope is mounted.

If minor, you can adjust accommodate barrel droop w/ scope internal adjustments.  In RWS cases, it generally takes a scope base that's either itself adjustable or designed from the git go to actually cant the scope down at an angle to match the barrel angle.   Leapers makes one that’s bombproof against both A & B above.  Install it and forget it.

post: Obviously if you use iron sights -- mounted on the barrel itself -- you can ignore all of the above.

Hey guys, what would you say are the best pellets for the RWS I am getting? I will be hunting so I will need to be able to do some damage but still have accuracy and range. As I said before I will be trying .22 RWS superpoint 14.5 grain first because they are said to be accurate and they are pretty light so they will give me pretty good range. Am I correct? What are your thoughts?

For hunting (squirrels, etc.) the Polymag Predator is hard to beat.  It's also hard to get - try mail order or eBay.  My second choice would be the Gamo Magnum. This is a pointed pellet and penetrates well. Several large sporting goods chains used to carry it, but no more.  A Gamo Magnum clone of sorts is the Crosman Premium Superpoint - readily available and not too pricey. Except for the Predator, I would avoid hollow-point pellets.

If your airgun is in perfect shape and all works well, almost any pellet will work. But, in a less perfect world, wad-cutter pellets and domed pellets may not penetrate. The squirrel will give you a 3-finger salute and scamper off.

So if the o ring is down in the rut too deep I need to just get a thicker o ring from a local hardware store or what?

No, it's time to replace the o-ring with a new one. Generally, there is only one correct size o-ring fora specific application. Occasionally, there is some minor variation from batch to batch. For a Beeman GS700, the best o-rings came from AutoZone but Ace Handyman Hardware had a suitable product as well.  The ring from AutoZone was a tad thicker.  This kind of variation aside, do not go to a "thicker" or "larger" o-ring. Bad idea.

Other users may have different opinions on this, but my estimate of o-ring life is 6-12 months.  But, they only cost $.75 per 2 at AutoZone.
