First crow
« on: December 26, 2008, 08:50:19 AM »
Well, I finally got my first crow with my AF condor. Usually they are so scared that I can't open the window/door before they fly away. However, this one just sat on the tree, I even walked right by the tree he was in (60ft. pine tree, he was at the tip top) and he didn't fly away. So I run indoors, grab my condor, and take aim about 20 yards away. Due to the angle I am shooting at, I didn't have a clear headshot. So instead I aim for his chest and calculate approximately where the bullet will exit so that it will go through some of his head. I find the spot, pull the trigger. He falls over instantly, and hits the ground like a rock, dead instantly. The bullet entered his chest and exited the center of the top of his head, so it looks like I did a good job estimating the exit point of the bullet in order to get a head shot. Now here is a pic for those that like pics. BTW, this is my first crow I have ever killed.

Good shot on your 1st crow!  Well you hadn't shot one before so this one wasn't sure what you were up to.  Good thing none of his friends were around or they would avoid your property like the plague!   :emoticon:

Actually, they were!  After I shot him about 15 crows came up within 10 minutes and circled overhead and were making all kinds of loud, annoying sounds.  None landed but I think they know what happend.

Thanks everyone.  Since this is my first crow, let me ask this, is 16 inches a good size for a crow or is that about average?
