« on: December 28, 2008, 08:45:14 AM »
I've heard that shooting the gamo pba pellets can ruin the rifleing in your airgun barrel if you use them more than once in a while ? can i use them exclusivly throught the life of the gun or should i stick w/lead?

There harder than lead but I would think it would take 1000th and 1000th to rune your barrel. Do you shoot them alot? In most gun's there not that great I still
got the one and only one's I got at walmart about a year ago I think I have half of them left.  Just for the heck off it I shot them in my new air gun and I got a one hole group. If your have them in a high power springer you can ruin the spring with the light weight pellet's. I would go with lead cheaper and better.
try alot of pellet's in your gun till you find the one that shoot's the best in that gun ever gun like something different.

Hi johnp...welcome to the GTA forum....I saw your post about your new RWS 350 Magnum also....congrats on your new purchase.  As gunpug mentioned...I also think the PBA's are harder than the lead pellets....they might ruin the rifling in the barrel over time if used extensively....no data/reports on that yet.....

What there's data on is that the lighter PBA pellet will most likely ruin the innards of the springers i.e..spring, piston etc.  There's a whole bunch of threads talking about that  here.  Especially with your RWS 350 Mag....the strong springer will take a beating from the PBA's.....and will probably result with less accuracy due to the pellets going supersonic....and add in the loud "bang".

I was lucky I didn't shoot any of my .177 PBA's that came with my 3 Gamos....info that I got off this forum.  I'll most likely use them in my Crosman multi-pump pistol...the handgun is not as strong and no spring to worry about.....    Stick with the lead pellets.
