remington 1100
« on: December 28, 2008, 08:36:11 AM »
I recently bought a remington 1100 that only shoots 3" shells. The deal was unbelievable. I am not enjoying it. Does any one know how to find out how much one is really worth? It is from the 60's I believe, Thanks, John

Emailme a pic, the serial number and barrel length and I'll be able to tell you tomorrow. I have a blue book for firearms at the shop. The couple of deluxe oldies I have at the shop are going for 300-375.

Hey John,

Unless something has changed in shotguns, the 12 gauge 1100 will shoot all 12 gauge shotgun shell up to the 3" 12 gauge shell.

And since the value is directly connected to the condition and type of stock on the shotgun, it can be worth almost any amount.

I hope this helps some !

Hey Bill Remington did build the 1100 in a 3" only model for some years with a full choked barrel @ 30" mainly for ducks. I used to own one in the mid 90's. It would notcycle 2 3/4" no matter what dram weight or shot I used. I imagine it's similar to the one I owned.

WOW,

I stand corrected Jason, Thanks for the information !

I checked the Standard Catalog of Firearms 2000, before posting, and found no such model shown. But I should have remembered that it was an automatic shotgun first ! I do own a model 1100 shotgun, thanks for the update.

No problem Bill. I have first hand knowledge because I made the mistake of buying one thinking the very same thing. Man was I wrong. LOL the good old days.

Hi all, The serial number is 123370M. It says MAGNUM on the right side of the reciever, the barrel says Full on it and it also has a "deluxe polychoke" I put a limbsaver slip on recoil pad on it but it changes the length of pull negatively for me. It hits almost as hard as my buddies 870 pump, and it will not reliably cycle the 2 3/4" inch shells I had on hand. Several people have mentioned changing the recoil spring but then it would be a crap shoot. Supposedly the bolt was made for magnum loads in 3" 12 ga to replace 10 ga for geese. So the weight of the bolt would appear to be part of the problem, also.

The truth is I am not going to shoot this gun. I will either take it to a gun show and try to trade it or take it to one of my favorite fun shops (ie, Gun stores and sell it on consignment. I don't have an FFL and by the time fees and shipping are figured in it seemd to much effort for gunsamerica.

Thanks for your insight, will trade for a condor?? LOL just kidding, John
