Erskine, these are collar-less and at the time they were all over the damn place!  As much as I don't feel right about shooting domestic animals- this is one occasion where it was warranted!

I would to kill a hog.. Since itS all legal and everything in texas...  BUT SQUIRREL AINT...

 TALK ABOUT BASAKWARDS THINKIN...

A stupid law exists?  [sarcasm] I'm stunned.  I think I have to go lie down...[/sarcasm]

Seriously, though, the air gun/squirrel law here is annoying.  I can use an air rifle for rabbits, I can take a nuisance raccoon, but I can't shoot a nuisance squirrel with the same air rifle?  I wonder if we'd have better luck writing the TPWD or our TX state representatives?  I'm thinking maybe the state rep would be a more effective route.

JASON. I have purchased a domain name called  http//www.texans4airgunhunting.com  .  I am in the process  of building the website but Its a slow process... If ya can help with the website we can lobby austin to get that stupid rule changed... I 'm just no computer guru....

Zelda, the light is ussually mounted on the scope. Mine had a pressure switch similar to a laser. See the link  ... BSA Varmint Hunter  from a post above. Also pic w/racoon shows the scope w/light and laser, I believe. John
PS misouri (sp?) does allow deer to be taken with air guns >.40 and I believe will allow rimfire see the link http://mdc.mo.gov/hunt/deer/firearms.htm
May not be in every state, but some allow it. My friends Kid has takem several with .22 WMR. They were heart/lung shots. I have seen many large bore rifles be just as useless as a peashooter because people do not understand shot placement and think big caliber, easy kill.

zelda, my  rabbits must be quite stupid then, if i stay over 25 yards away my rabbits will just sit there lookin right back

my favorite are rabbits, squirrel, possum, raccoon, english sparrows, mice  somtimes those last two are super hard to shoot though, when your trying to hit  a <1/2" head at 30+ yards, though i usally just take body shots with the sparrows, since a squirrel only neds like 7 FPE to kill and my guns getting 17.5 at muzzle

Not speaking for Jeff but When I lived out in South Dakota I hunted rabbit at night with lamp and laser. Moonlight night's were the best, I would find a spot at the farm then watch the em come out into the field where the moonlight gave me a dark target. I would set the cross hairs and laser on them then push on the lamp pressure switch and light them up. They didn't run but hunkered down and froze, place the cross hairs and laser on the fusebox and drop em on the spot. Very few ran but I have seen em run from oncoming headlight's of a auto. Ed
I airgun hunt therefore I am... };)  {SHADOWS Tunes & Camo}  airguncamo@yahoo.com

Pest birds and......Cats. Well at least several whan I was a teen and they infiltrated my dads garage. Now I just take them ( if they aren't collered) to the pound who ends up putting them down anyway.

I like to hunt pest the most since I live in a huge urban area so I focus mainly on our grackle problem I shoot as many as I can everyday! Next would be feral pigeons then starlings and rats!I like to snipe squirrels in the backyard but thats not hunting thats control of a damaging pest allowed by the state of Texas! I would love to find a place to hunt rabbits with my airguns like the huntung areas aruond the armycorp lakes that allow the use of shotguns and you can hunt deer with a slug from a rifled shotgun but you cant use a airgun to hunt small game whats up with that?Oh yea Matt reminded me I better get a collar for my little badass cat because he fights eveything around  we use to have a bunch of strays I have even had to pop with a few with 2  pumps on the 2100 crosman to get them out of my yard but not to kill them, since he been on the lose I have not seen any in a year now,he  is so crazy he sits with me in the backyard while I shoot waiting for me to drop something out of a tree for him to eat.

WOW. I see what you guys mean about rabbits! I went out at around 8 at night on Saturday and when I shined the light the rabbit about 30 yards away just froze. Head shot. Then I let my friend kill one with my gun and same thing, except we walked up on it at 12 feet!!! It just stared at us for like 30 seconds and then he shot it. It was great. Man, I wish I knew how to post pics on here. Id love to show you guys.

Hi Spark.. congrats on post 100!...and thanks for a memory you 'sparked'...a good friend of mine had a cat years ago that was a natural born killer, but it always came running to him when he stepped outdoors with a rifle of any sort. It would stalk along with him ( or sit still) and would retrieve the small critters he shot ! That cat knew who had the mojo when it came to getting some meat.
One other note ,from the same time/place....an 80 plus yr old neighbor there in the mountains recomended hanging a dead crow upside down by it's feet, wings outstretched, to bring every other crow for miles around. I haven't done this myself, the bunch that showed up overhead for a regular, dead- on- the- ground crow were plenty un-nerving for me.

Texas, that is HILARIOUS!
I have to tell you a story that I've never told anyone since my dad unfortunately died back in 2000 of cancer.  He would laugh that I would tell you this story after what you wrote as your "favorite game" animal.
We attend gun shows here in the Denver area whenever possible, and at most shows this guy shows up with t-shirts of every kind.  Well my dad was about three weeks from retirement from Denver Public Schools (big-time liberal establishment-no guns, no hunting, no "nothiin") and he is a joker at heart, so I told him at this gun show that if he would wear a shirt to school even one time, I would buy it for him.  So, not to pass up a rare opportunity when presented, I bought one which had a large print of a "cartoonized" cat on the front, above which said "I love cats...." Well, if you looked on the backside after passing him, say in the hallway, you'd see the words "at 3000 feet per second!", and another cartoon of the cat exploding after being hit by a 168 grain hollow point boattail bullet.  The main person he was looking to "get to" was his secretary (he was the school social worker for 23 yrs. and knew her very well) who was a cat lover.  When he came to school that day she saw the front of the shirt and  said "Aaaaawwwwwwwwwww, your'e a softie after all"!!!!!!!.  Then (in front of an office full of staff and teachers who had already seen the back of the shirt (LOL!) he turned around.  She slapped him on the shoulder so hard I think he can still feel the sting in Heaven!
Hope you enjoyed that, truth is always funnier than fiction!
   God Bless, Dutchspringer Out
