Zeroing in
« on: February 01, 2009, 05:00:13 AM »
I am shooting at 24 ft in the basement.  The scope seems to be low about 2 1/2 in.  Is there an inverse relationship with being close as to being too far?

the scope was a return at Cabelas

The center line of your scope is significanly higher than the centerline of your bore.  The closer you shoot the more that difference is going to show up.  That discrepancy is also why ballistics charts show the arc of trajectory intersecting the line of sight twice instead of showing it simply beginning to fall once it leaves the muzzle.

It's kinda like the train tracks affect. They look wide while your standing in them and appear to get closer together the farther out you look. Your scope, I'm guessing, is about 1.5 inches from the center of the scope to the center of the barrel. You may have run out of down elevation on your scope for that close range. Try shimming the back mount or switch to and adjustable mount.

Hope this helps.
