With the new target forums and a lot of interest in shooting indoors. We need to make sure we have wear safety glasses especially if you have a steel trap that can have bounce backs . Lets all be safe . kirby

Yes thanks for the alert David. Indoor shooting can be dangerous if you do not take the proper safetyprecautions.

Yea , it got my attention when I shot my AA Carbine set on high at the steel .22 rimfire trap I've been shooting indoors. With the pistols I've been shooting , I didn't have any problems , but with the higher powered rifle I did get a few that bounced out of the trap. kirby

Excellent point, as any one of us can be a little lack on safety from time to time. I am as guilty as the next person too. I usually catch myself and grab the 'ol safety glasses. There can be no short cut on shooting safety and it just takes a second. All it takes is one time...and something real bad could happen.

The irony!!!! Shooting indoors the last 5+ months.....I have my glasses by the table, so I wear them everytime I shoot. The first time I shot outdoors (Yesterday)....I forgot to wear them because I was bringing the gear (target (phone book), pail to lean target on, airgun, shovel to remove some of the snow and snowshoes to walk on the snow) outside. It's only after the 10th or so shots I realized I wasn't wearing my glasses....by that time I only had 5 shots left.

I had my trap at 5 meters, shooting at a matrix target (target sheet with multiple targets) with a target air pistol.
On one target, I missed the target and hit the edge of the trap...then I felt something hit my cheek.

DANG...the pellet fragment hit was only a couple inches from my eye, just outside the glasses.

I may have had one closer but I wear glasses, so I did not notice if a fragment hit the lens.

Thanks for the safety reminder Kirby.  Just because these are "firearms" doesn't mean they can be treated any differently.
