Blair-Holt Licensing and Record Act of 2009
« on: February 14, 2009, 04:16:38 AM »
Here they come, ready or not. Are you ready for the House Bill titled 'HR 45, Blair Holt Licensing and Record Act of 2009'?

All you Obama supporters, congratulations.

It will make it illegal to own a firearm unless it is registered with the database in Washington. As a gun owner you will have to be finger printed, you will be required to provide your DL#, SS#, you must maintain a valid address at all times, submit to mental and physical health records being put on file, you will also be required to file any address changes and any ownership changes even if a private sale. Each update will cost $25 and if you fail to comply you will lose your right to own firearms. This bill and its language mirror almost completely one defeated last year in the House of Representatives by soon / now to be Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel.

I have not seen details about air rifles.

You won't see much mention of this bill in the NYTimes or any mainstream media, if I guess right. Both these links seem to have editors who have not drunk the Kool-aid. The above link says:

If HR45 ever became law, it would require anyone wishing to purchase, own, or possess a "qualifying firearm" to submit to the federal government an application that would include, among other things: a current, passport-sized photo; personal address and birth date; a clear thumbprint; a statement the individual is not a person prohibited from obtaining a firearm; certification by the applicant the firearm will be safely stored and out of the possession of persons less than 18 years of age; certification attesting to completion of a written firearms examination and authorization to release to the Attorney General any mental health records pertaining to the applicant along with a licensing fee.

A "qualifying firearm" is "any handgun; or any semiautomatic firearm that can accept any detachable ammunition feeding device..." It would be illegal to own a "qualifying firearm" without the proposed license.

What irony.  Friday 13th.  St. Vanlentine's Day Massacre.  Take you pick.  Obama lied.  The Republic died.  Chicago criminals, Socialists, and a Mafia Princess now run the government.  The total of the US Deficit spending voted for without the benefit of reading 1100 plus pages of the new bill now exceeds the Global GDP.  Lock and load, folks.

A bit of good news - the new Democrat Senator, Kirsten Gillibrand (replacing Hillary in NY, thank God) respects gun ownership. The article in Newsday said:

...after living in Manhattan with its gun violence for 12 years, Gillibrand, who as a House member won the National Rifle Association's top rating, rejects city gun bans or limits on legally owned guns.

"It's a false debate," she said. "It's political rhetoric that's sucking you in to believe that hunters owning a gun or an American citizen who wants to protect his home owning a gun somehow increases gun violence."

Asked if she owned a gun, she said, "We own two."

Asked where she kept them, she said, "Under the bed."

Gillibrand said while she and her husband don't hunt, her mother, brother and father do.

"I grew up in a house where my mom owns about eight guns. She keeps them in a gun case," Gillibrand said.

She is reportedly being criticized by NYC loonies for her views. Note that Newsday is published in Long Island, and is editorially much more conservative than the NYTimes, which can be counted on to be 100% ADA left wing on every issue.

Anecdotally, my former pastor from Cape Girardeau, MO called me last night.  Seems one of his neighbors was raped a few month's back.  She bought herself a shot gun. Sure enough, the same fellow returned for a second attempt, except this time, she blew him away.  Didn't hear any other details, but the good pastor was inquiring about shotguns for his home.  He had purchased a 20 ga. Rem 870 pump.  Perfect.  I advised him to stock up on #8 birdshot - best round for home defense.  Incredible knockdown power, but won't shoot thru the wall and accidentally kill someone in the next room.  Plus, you can dove hunt.

Every single member of the GTA should strongly consider joining the NRA, if you are not a member already.  Also, the Heritage Foundation (askheritage.com) is another great source of information about what goes on in Washington and why.  Another great organization to join and support.
