Is there something wrong here?

I just got my Whisper back from CDT last week. I have a new Leapers scope and a 1 piece Accushot scope mount ready to go on it. I mounted everything up, the eye relief is good, the scope is level. The problem is my initial shots are 4-5 inches low at about 13 yards. The scope has 1/4 MOA adjustment so according to my caculations I'm going to have to turn my elevation turret at least one hundred clicks. Before I go cranking on this thing I just wonder is something wrong or is this fairly common to have to make this large of an adjustment.

Yes and no.  While it's true based on your math that you will have to turn it about 130 times, that's while you're at 13 yards.  If you have the scope mounted in mid/high rings on top of Gamo's riser, which is on top of the receiver, the scope is actually quite high compared to the barrel.  So, the closer you shoot, the greater the offset between the scope 0 and the barrel.  As you move further back from your target, the gun might start to shoot a little more level.  Try shooting at 20 yards, and I'll bet you have to turn your turret less than 100 times.  Have you ever tried shooting with the iron sights at 2 yards?  You'll always shoot low.  Back up to 10 yards, you're more on target.  The same thing applies with scopes.

Plus, many break barrels have barrel droop.  So, you can get an adjustable mount or shim the rear of the scope a little to reduce the number of clicks you have to make.

No matter what the cause you can put shims under tne scope. Check the Library here there is info there on how to install the shims, & what to use for shim material. This is a common problem, & an easy fix.

On the Whisper the scope is above the barrel, so there is a couple of inches (or more) between the barrel, and the center of the scope.  For me, to get a 25 yard zero, put an aiming spot on the target, about 1 to 1/2 inches above the center of the bull, and zero gun to hit center, while aiming at the spotl  If your scope adjustments were not centered, you may have a couple of turns to bring your impact point to center.  Then shoot at longer range...you will be real close at 25 yards.  Also, do you have a parallax adjustable scope?  If not, then head placement is very important.  Move your head, watch the cross hairs move too!

I have not personaly experienced droop issues with most all the Gamo,s I have owned,,,,sure have with my Diana,s . I would try zeroing in at 20-25 yrds. Alot of scopes are not "centered" from the factory. I would adjust at 20-25 yrds to hit zero,,, then see how close I was to center on adjustment range on the scope. That would give an indication if "shimming" was in order??  You are obviously putting alot of thought into this Mike,,,,, I wish you the best. Tim.

I'd like to thank everyone for their input. You guys brought up some good points that I wasn't even thinking about.
 To be honest this is only the second time that I've mounted a scope, the first time was the stock scope that came with the gun. The stock one took a few turns so I just expected that a better scope would take less. It's true that the mount is higher than the stock mount plus I went up to a 30mm tube diameter therefore it totally makes sense that the distance between the center of the optics and the center of the bore has increased.
 Unfortunatly because of time constraints and were I live 13 yds is about as far as I can shoot in my yard. Hopefully this weekend I can get out in the open a little bit and dial this unit in. (weather permitting)

try sticking to one certain type of pellet when setting your scope.u dont want to use a variety cause they r all different when leaving the barrel,to low, to high ,left,right,missed thats what happens. just a thought ..
