take it real easy Mike let it heal up real good because I don't know whats left to do after a fusion but it can't be good.I've had the discectomy on my L4-L5 disc back in 04 and now I'm waiting for a MRI to find out how worn the disc has become and if it's time for the fusion I wish my doc would have done it in the frist place because I realy don't want to go under the knife again so soon but I'm realy tired of always being in pain.I wish you good luck and a speedy recovery just take it easy for a long time I think I went back to my activities way too soon because I felt so much better but ended up making things much worse,so don't do the same thing listen to the doc!

Tim, I ain't picking up anything, heavier than a cup of joe. I hope your back eases up soon, that kinda pain ain't no fun.

Spark22, my Dr said that a discectomy was good for 3-5yrs and the fusion if it takes is permanent. He said he would rather do the fusion, unless it's several levels, where you would loose allot of mobility. Hope all goes well for you also.
