New arrival!!!
« on: March 18, 2009, 10:01:39 AM »
I am very excited about recieving my new TF89 today and I really didn't feel to jumpy about the delivery because it arrived to my door steps this morning at about 11:15am double box and well wrapped. When I opened the box I was very surprised to see such a beautiful looking gun ( not cheap looking at all, by no means). I immediately cleaned the barrel right away and wow can you say krud, wheww! After cleaning it which took about 10 mins. I placed a CP .22 pellet in the barrel and let 1 fly. To my amazement this gun sure does have alot of power and to me it sounds like a .22 rim fire, quite a bit diesling but it quickly settling down after only a few shots.

So far as what I have seen of the TF89 performance, I do believe that she will be one of my favorites. Although I don't have a scope for her yet I am sure that I will be able to tame just right for my standard. I no that it is a little to early to tell but so far I give her 2 thumbs up for looks and power, accuracy and velocity testing is sure to come very soon.

Yup, those guns definitely do have some "thump" to em  :)

Took me awhile to find the right pellet for mine, but now that I have she's deadly.... literally  :)

Congrats on the new shooter.  Will be looking forward to your future posts with the gun.....

Congratulations Diuntae, on what I call a Sleeper..:) Many people do not realize the power that that TF-89 has. I own one also and it is the only .22 magnum springer that I have and I love it.  I might suggest you put a sturdy one piece mount like an Accushot mount and a good Air Gun Rated Scope. Here is my setup.

I just wondered about the pellets. I bought a TF 89,  awhile back, but I haven't had a chance to really get into it. I have to agree,  it certainly does have the power or so it seems. Not a whole lot of vibration either.Really nice. Sooner or later I will have to tear it down and do a tune. The way things are going, lately, it may be in the next century or two.

I've had a TF89 for about a year now and like it.  It has a lot of power and will shoot CP points at about 840fps.  The pointed pellets will shoot through 1/2" plywood at 50' and 3/8" OSB at 100' and sometimes at 150'.  It does seem to be very hold-sensitive.  If shooting off a bench, even with "squishy" support it has to be shot EXACTLY the same way.  It I put my hand under the forearm off of a bench I can shoot ragged-hole size groups at 50'.   My buddy and I have contests to see who can shoot the soda/beer can the most consecutive times at 50 yards.  10X in a row isn't uncommon but the record's about 20.

The trigger was decent stock but I disassembled it and smoothed all the edges that touch each other and relubed it.  Now I really like the trigger and have adjusted it so there is a short, light first stage followed by a little firmer firing stage.  I did have the mounting bolts start working loose and wreaking havoc on my accuracy.  Once I locktited them back in, accuracy returned.

Like Gene, I have an Accushot 1-piece mount and a Leapers 4X mil-dot scope on it.  This setup hasn't moved and is very accurate.

My buddy and I got into air rifles heavily last spring and have bought nearly 20 different types of .22 pellets.  He bought a Mendoza .22.   We have spent MANY hours thoroughly testing each type and find that the RWS pellets are the most accurate.  CP anything didn't seem to shoot well in either of our guns.  We both settled on the  RWS Super H-points as our favorite because of it's very consistent shape and is a HP.  These pellets are shooting 820-830fps over the chronograph and are right at the top velocity-wise while they're hitting about 650fps in the Mendoza.  Many a crow, tweety-birds and squirrels have met their maker with these pellets.  Next were going pigeon and ground-squirrel hunting!!!!!
