Airgunning Atlanta Field target March match
« on: March 20, 2009, 01:59:23 PM »
We're having our monthly Field target match for March tomorrow . start time around 10am . I plan on shooting my R11 hunter class style for the first time . I've got a friend of mine who shoots a BSA S-10 PCP gunning for me since I took a signed dollar from him in last months match. he's been practicing and fine tuning his rifle for a month . I may have picked a bad time to switch to springer without a little more practice. Oh well, it's just a buck and bragging rights for a month . and if somehow , I manage to beat him with my R11 , it'll be that much sweeter . LOL kirby

What a beautiful day to be out shooting a Field Target Match! Doing anything outside would have been nice today. Well If my only goal today was to beat my friend shooting in hunter class , well then I failed . Because he put a whupping on me as bad as I had him last month, when we were both shooting on a level playing field, shooting PCP's . I had it coming and was not surprised , Eddie's a good shot and I knew it wouldn't take him long to get the hang of shooting hunter class with the use of a bipod. Out of a possible 78 Eddie shot a 50 ; an improvement over his score of 39 last month I shot a 31 ; But I don't feel I failed. My first goal was to shoot at least 33% , I beat that , shooting right at 40% . After all , I was shooting a spring piston gun, off a bipod ; it's going to take a little while and a little more practice to get the hang of the different holds required for shooting up and downhill . Next month my goal will be to shoot 50% or better . Baby steps . I need to get use to the speed of this rifle too. I found out today , I can shoot 55 yards with the same holdover than I shot 50 yards before with my 12fpe PCP. That's a full 1" flatter trajectory . The rest of the guys shot PCP unlimited and the high score for them was shot by Doug Vinson , a 69 ; a very nice score , especially with the wind we had . A fun time ; I can't wait to get back out there next month . kirby

I am still trying to learn where all I need to click on this forum and whilst learning I stumbled across this post. Good to know you all were shooting and having a great time. I look forward to your whooping me in springer class sometimes this year (not to say I will be going down easy, I'm just a realist who shoots for fun).
We shot at the GOB in Pulaski TN yesterday and were lucky enough to have Brian Knight "Thefuzzylimey" join us for the day. What a great guy.

Now how about a few pictures of ya'lls fun?

Sorry to disappoint you, Dave ... I didn't shoot .... just wandered and watched along with Dave Slade, my fellow ex-Limey !   I did have a very enjoyable day though ... a great group of airgun types there.   Unfortunately - still not fully recovered from the last spinal surgical bout -  I was about exhausted after helping fight "forest and brush fires" all the previous day on my hilltop property .... burnt up about 14-15 acres, mostly leaves, dry straw-grass and small brush .... an unannounced wind gust started it from a small leaf fire in a cleared area.    Shows one cannot be too careful even under what appeared to be perfectly calm conditions.   I still hope to make it down to Atlanta for one of your shoots.
