9mm shooters
« on: March 28, 2009, 03:13:31 PM »
Do you take your PCP pump (or your air tank) into the field when you go out shooting ?
Worried about dirt, dust, grit ??
I mean you are only going to get at best 50 shots before re-filling right...so whats best ?

Expecting my new career 201 this coming month.....just trying to think ahead, (couldn't find a re-fill shop so went with the pump for now).

Thanks,
Whipperwilly

I have a 201 S and on full power I get about 7 - 8 good shots then things go down hill . So if you plan on doing a lot of shooting then you better take a pump . Marvin

Hmmmm......sounds like I had better come up with some dust/grit-free ideas then.

Thanks,

PS/ still have 2-3 feet of snow here....and more coming, won't be doing much shooting outside for awhile yet.

You might plan on geitting one of these male quick coupler foster fittings as well . A big improvement over the stock fill set up . Its a bad picture but you probable know what a male foster looks like .Marvin

I have the quick-disconnect adapters for career...

I don't think it matters much, my worry is the dust and grit ...any quick gust of wind could undo the best of intentions.
I'm thinking of a balloon over the fittings until needed, use my jacket on the ground as a clean area.

However.....what about the pump - its sucking in air somewhere....I doubt its innards will like grit much....ideas ?

I don't know what you have for a pump but mine had a little brass filter on it . I have a tank and compressor so I don't have a lot of experience with pumps . You should post this on the dark side here on GTA or at least your question and some one else may be able to help you. The link is on the gray header here under PCP or click on this this time. Marvin
