Hehe,
Start with square stock and face off a chunk as long as the piece is wide:) C'mon Rich, we need somethiung harder than this!
Just messing with ya, I'm sure there is a real answer. My only real thought is to start with round stock. You'd need a 4 jaw chuck. Cut a length of round stock, flip it in the chuck 90 degrees, face it off, flip 180 degrees, face again, flip 90...etc...till you have 6 faced sides of equal size...am I close? As you can probably tell I know little or nothing about using a metal lathe, ask me how to make a set of Crosman grips from wood, more my speed:)
