Just wanted to drop in and say hi! :emoticon: I've been shooting BB/pellet rifles for more than 25 years since I was a kid (don't know how many 10's of 1,000's of BBs I shot). Started with my Dad's Crosman Powermaster 760 and moved up to a Benjamin/Sheridan Blue Streak. That eventually got stolen and I bought a Crosman 2100. Still have the 760 and the 2100. I used to sit on my back porch when I was in college (in AZ) and shoot the Cicadas out of the trees with that 760 (using the standard iron sights no less). The BB would make a satisfying smack when it hit their hard shells and poked a hole through them. I got pretty darn good at it!

Fun times.
My father-in-law has had several different break-action pellet rifles over the years, and I had always wanted to get a relatively high-powered pellet gun for myself.Earlier this year I took a bunch of gift certificates I had to Sportsman's Warehouse picked up a Gamo Whisper (on my brother's recommendation) and have been shooting it since. While doing some research online about the rifle and making a good indoor backstop, I found this forum and have been lurking ever since (I made my backstop out of an 8" x 13" steel electrical breaker box with about 13 blocks of duct seal). You guys are also responsible for my purchase of the GRT-III trigger which is fantastic BTW.
I have about 800 pellets through the rifle now, and I'm pretty darn happy with it. I have been lucky and haven't experienced any scope creep yet, so I doubt I will. However, I did have a problem with the original scope (the magnification adjustment got messed up and would turn past 4x after only about 100 shots) but Gamo replaced it without any trouble. I haven't had any problems yet with the replacement one, but I really wish it had adjustable parallax. I can easily get 1/2" or smaller groups at 10 yards off of a rest, but it seems every single brand/type of pellet has its own trajectory. My gun REALLY seems to like the Beeman Crow Magnums (and I love their expansion), so that is what I am sighted in for. I just made an order at PA for a 500 count of JSB Exacts, RWS Superdomes, RWS Meisterklugens, and another tin of Crow Magnums. It looks like I was lucky because everything I ordered was in stock and is on its way to me right now (I must have gotten one of the last tins of the Crow Mags).
While I was at it, I also ordered an Air-Venturi gas ram. I have spent a fair amount of time researching this drop-in mod for the Gamo, and I see there are a lot of different opinions about it, both here and otherwise. However, I have also seen quite a fewunobjective opinions about it, and not a lot of real technical data so I decided to try one for myself. I was going to tear down my rifle for a home tune anyway (I'm quite mechanically inclined), so it seems like a good time to try one out. I like the fact that the gas ram will get rid of the spring twang and torque. The gas ram is a sound piece of engineering, and imho, is the better power plant on paper. This brings me to my question.
I have looked,... and looked,... and looked, and I can NOT find a single write-up of anyone doing an Air-Venturi install in a Gamo (or anything else for that matter). I found a .pdf of someone putting a Theoben into a Gamo CFX, but it is written in DUTCH, and while I spent over 6 months in Holland a few years back my Dutch is still no good. So, does anyone here know of a write-up or a how-to on installing the Air-Venturi, preferably into a Gamo? I'm pretty confident that I can do it without one, but I always prefer to have read about someone else trying it first. :p The blogger over at PA has said he would do one at some point, but I couldn't find anything indicating he ever did.
So there I am. One of the other reasons I signed up was I got tired of not being able to see the photo attachments here, especially the targets in the shoot-out contests. Speaking of targets, I am going to attach a full-page (8.5x11) target that I made, and I want
all of you to have a copy. It has a dozen 2.5" bulls with 1/4" rings on a single sheet of paper. It is a bit busy looking, but I get tired of having to get up and change my targets all the time. Hits are easy to see on this one (versus others I have that are black rings). Enjoy!
