Shooting with my wife
« on: April 26, 2009, 11:15:08 AM »
I have a pair of .177 calibre Scorpion pistols that I shoot in my basment on a near daily basis.  My wife has been becoming more interested in my activities, so after her running a few rounds through one of the guns at Marksman pellet stop, I offered to draw her a target for a 10 shot 'match'.  I gave her the better shooter of the two, and set out 10 RWS Meisterkugelns for airpistol.  I drew an approximate square 1.5" x 1.5" on a shoebox that I stuffed with newspaper, and set it up at about 5 meters.  She worked through the 10 rounds in about 6 minutes, taking her time and trying to breathe evenly.  The results are encouraging, and she managed a very nice little group.  She likes the Scorpion, excepting the recoil, cocking effort, and weight.  Might have to start looking for a shooter for her that is less demanding.

My wife took her first shot with a bb gun.  We were sitting outside watching the birds when I ask her if you wanted to shoot this Cyclone.  She said yes, I was very surprised.  The target was sixty yards and she hit it dead on.  Very encouraging.

Ever since my elbow surgeries, my wife makes me look bad when we shoot together.

About the Crosman 2300. On the crosman website you can go to the Custom Shop and build whatever you want. You know how picky female shoppers can get.

I put a red dot sight on mine and I love it. look through the scope Put the dot on the target and the pellet hits it if you do your part. The 2300 also has an adjustable trigger pull. Remove the Grip and there is a thumbwheel to adjust the trigger. My 2300 is 177 cal., I will be ordering a 22 cal from the custom shop with a quick acc site, muzzle comp and custom grips  About $180. not bad for what you get in my opinion. Also this is powerful enough to controll pests. so far my longest shot has been app 20 yds for a rabbit in the garden. I did have the barrel on a rest but the rabbit didn't care.

Good luck

Dehouser, what is a Ruko Condor?

Troy,
It is a bit of a mystery gun.  I have ascertained that it was manufactured by Dynamit Nobile, in West Germany, in 1982.  Diana made guns for Ruko for a few years, and then the brand was discontinued and later re-emerged in the Phillipines.  It is a lovely little gun; very nice two stage trigger, quiet, and more accurate than I.  It is rather weak, though, and is likely in need of a new spring, as well as seals.  As Diana has been of no help, I want to dissasemble the gun and see if JM has something that will do.

Al,
I have been very fortunate, as my wife isn't particularly picky; I mean after all, she is with me!  Thank you again for the Crossman info.  I have a line on a used HW40 (a gun I have wanted for some years), and am going to pursue that end first.
