I wont bore you with the stories but lets just say its been 58 days on 4 different occasions, so thats why I say if it can happen it will happen....to me! passenger in a Car wreck (33), hit broadside in an ATV wreck(15), Colon rupture(6), Colon repair(4)...114 days in the hospital total. Got me beat.  Simple appendix removal, tonsilar absesse caused by Strep throat that closed my airway, 1/2" removed from my clavicle to allow the humerous that I broke lengthwise to fit back into the shoulder joint, and a tumor in my stomache that I had removed last year because it was creating pressure on my insides and everything I ate came back out.  Three of those were in the last 6 years, 8 years ago I fell off an airplane, Boeing 767, just sorta missed the ladder with everything except for my knees on the way down, that was the ER trip.  But no ICU, man, I gotta work harder:)

I guess I must be living right.  Other than the assorted cuts and bruises and sore back that go along with a career in costruction, I've never so much as broken a bone!  Never even spent a night in the hospital, just the occasional ER visit for the occasional stitch or two.  Still have my tonsils and appendix.  Probably my worst injury was a bruised kidney from a motor cycle wreck.  And no, I don't live in a plastic bubble :-)!  And yes, I have every intention of keeping this streak going, I HATE doctors!  Later.

Jeff,

In my 2006 Beeman catalog, it shows the Goldfinger mounted with a Bushnell 4 x 12 x 40 A/O scope. Might be worth looking into. Best of luck and happy birthday.

Smart man, hospitals suck, ER sucks, recovery from surgery sucks, and ya know things are never the way they were before the surgery or injury.  Stay healthy, I plan to from here in out....been a good year so far.....oops, except for my messed up neck and back last week:(

I own both the 48 and the r9 both in .177. I reach for the r9 more. It is lighter and I believe more accurate than the 48 but I haven't shot them side by side to compare spreads. If you are hunting wiith it the 48 is a lot to hold without a scope, add a scope and it is a bear to carry around the woods. The 48 is more powerful if that is what you are looking for. Shot placement seems to be the key over power though. An afternoon shooting in the back yard will also wear you down cocking the 48. (I guess I am leaning toward the r9 for a choice)
If you want one to impress your friends with power get the 48! Shoots through the side of a 5 gal pail at 25 yds. they are both well built and have a good balance. the break barrel is slightly easier to load, but I like the beartrap on the RWS. Hope this helps, they are in the same price range. I think if you move up to a 54 things change quite a bit. Oh, the 48 is tough on scopes too.
