Booster Pump Question
« on: May 04, 2009, 11:47:28 AM »
Has anyone tried to turn a hill or other hand pump into a booster pump? A scuba tank or nitrogen cylinder is basically useless below 2000 PSI. I have seen  booster pumps on ebay for $350 up to $ 2000 that uses an air compressor to boost tank pressure from 500 to as much as 5000 PSI. I was thinking that if you attach a fitting and a check valve to your lower pressure tank it should also boost up the pressure and you wouldn't waste the lower pressure in your tank and there should be less pumping to fill your gun. This also might give older pumps new life if they are only pumping the last 500 PSI or so.

If anyone has a used pump you want to donate I will fabricate the necessary parts and  test this theory.

I've seen something like this used in aviation to boost nitrogen pressure to service aircraft accumulators, often wondered if the same would work for PCP's, I reckon so.

This is the booster I'm speaking of.

Instead of the booster use your old hand pump.
