What targets are you using?  Those look pretty big.  A 10m air rifle target has a 10-ring that is only 1/2 mm in size (that's just a dot the size of a fine-point 0.5 Pentel mechanical pencil lead).  A .177 pellet will just barely fit inside the 9-ring, a dime fits inside the 6-ring and totally covers the 7-ring, the 1-ring is 1.8 inches in diameter.  Those are some pretty small targets (at least for my aging eyes!)

I just made and printed out some of these targets and built myself a target stand to hold them are the correct 10 meter height (55" standing, 31.5" kneeling, 19.7" prone).  I just got a Daisy 953 rifle and put 753 diopter/globe sights and a shooting sling (not carrying sling) on it.  Now I just need to get out there and practice with it!  LOT'S of practice!  Maybe after I've got some more experience with the rifle under my belt I'll look at entering beginners competitions.

You can do it!
We just have fun here and this is the target we all agreed on. Doesn't matter which rifle either. Some use scopes, some iron sights, and some full blown match rifles with diopters.

Jump on in. So far ain't nobody laughed at anybody else and we have had lots of fun. Personaly, I shoot against myself and enjoy getting to do it each weekend.

Oh, I see.  This was my first visit to the target shooting areas of GTA and I didn't realize that there were targets agreed upon by the group. But now I found the post with the targets for download/printing.  Sorry about my moronic confusion - I was assuming (I know, I know - never assume anything!) that a standard NRA or ISSF 10m air rifle target would be the norm and I was thus surprised to see a posted picture of something quite larger.  I get it now.  Thanks!

IMHO the standard 10m air rifle target is TOO DIFFICULT for the average shooter.  That is an OLYMPIC level target!
The average shooter is better served with a larger target, if only to keep their interest, rather than get totally frustrated and quit.

For my plinking rifles, I use the larger 10m air PISTOL target, or I make my own targets of an in-between size.

That said, I shoot 10m AR on the regulation 10m AR target.
