Evanix Blizzard and a few flyers.
« on: May 27, 2009, 01:27:02 AM »
Yesterday I was sighting in my scope. I would almost be on the bull and I would get a flyer, 1 to 2 inches off the bull. I don't think I'm jerking the trigger. I've been shooting since I was a kid. Am I shooting too many shots before I refill? I'm not sure about the pressure the gage stoped working and i need to have it replaced? I usually shoot 40 shots and then refill. I have tried the 2 types of pellets I have Gamo super points and Crosman premier ( box).
One other thing i have been filling to App 2200 PSI because my tank is low. The fill should be 3000 .
Any help is appreciated?

And get some heavier pellets, the Evanix guns all prefer heavyweights.  Kodiaks and Eun Jins are the way to go.  Also, pointed pellets generally suck in anything, and I've had flyer issues with CP's before, some guns worse than others.  Good luck.

I agree with Dave,,,, get some heavier pellets and lose the pointed pellets.  All my PCP's like heavier pellets.  I also have had some "flyers" with the CPL's.....

How heavy do you recommend? Also if I use lighter pellets do I get more shots such as 21 gr vs 32 gr?

Lighter pellets shouldn`t affect how many shots you get out of a fill.  The pellet just goes faster or slower.  Remember.....too fast of a pellet is sometimes no good....that`s why the above members suggests using a heavier pellet...to slow it down a touch.
Gamo: Expotec .177 + Big Cat .177 + Viper .177 + Whisper .177, Hammerli Titan .177, Diana model 24 .177, RWS-Diana P5 Magnum pistol .177, Crosman: G1 Extreme .177 + Storm XT .177 + Sierra Pro .177 + 1377 pistol .177, Air Arms S410SL .22, BSA Scorpion T10 .22, FX Cyclone .177, Remington Air Master 77 .177 + BB\'s,

Because of pellets overall weird shape, when compared to a bullet, you can get what's called transonic airflow over the pellet, which makes for poor accuracy.

Essentially, because the pellet is fat/thin/fat air will move fast where it's being pushed apart and slow where the pellet is narrow.  Locally some air will be moving faster than the speed of sound and some air will be moving slower.

When this happens it sends shock waves through the pellet and the surrounding air in unpredictable ways.   The pellet does not have to go supersonic, just near supersonic, which is actually the worst. Shoot pellets that go slower than 950 fps to be safe.

Try some of the 15.9 gr JSB's if you have them.  I just ordered some of the 18.1 gr. JSB jumbos  for my Marauder.....

You could also try some Crow Mags.. they're a bit heavier.....

I just looked up all the pellets between 16 and 32 gr. I'll order them and give them all a shot.
