How beneficial would an IR be?  Been looking at the leapers, but the one that I want doesn't have the IR. and the Leapers ID doesn't really impress me much.

Just got my scope (Leapers 3-9x32 AO full size scope ) and a few other toys in the mail.  Have to say I am very happy with the leapers offset scope I got with it. Allows me to either have the scope far enough back that the front of the scope completely clears the loading port, or, as I found works better, have it far enough forward that the flared part of the scope is past the loading port and I can easily get even my big fat chubby fingers in there. Having the scope all the way back made my neck hurt as I had to contort it back to be able to look through the scope. Once I lengthen the stock a little maybe I will switch it back that way.

I ended up just using some clean patchesto shim the scope up a bit in the back to get it to hit what I aimed at, and was wondering what other people use for shims.

Film for scope shims
« Reply #19 on: June 11, 2009, 08:20:58 AM »
Pyro,

I use 35mm film from an old camera to shim my scopes.  It's very, very consistent in thickness (0.005" IIRC), and it doesn't mash or change dmiensions over time.

Accushot mounts will work fine on a B-3 but you would be better off using the Accushot 2 piece mounts.  The dove tail grooves on the B-3 are not that long and may be to short for the 1 piece mount, besides the 2 piece mount will make it easier to align your scope just where you want it and also the B-3 is not a "magnum" air rifle by any means and doesn't really require the extra holding power of a 1 piece mount.

I have the 2 piece Accushots on my 3 B-3's as well as my 2 Fast Deer rifles and they work very well.....

I found that the one piece mounts in general are too long to fit on the scope rail of the B3.  Check to make sure the length is under 9cm or it won't fit.  The exception is the accushot offset mount which has a shorter base of ~7 cm and allows you to put the front lense of a full size scope forward of the loading port or totally clear behind it.  I believe pyramidair air sells it for about $13
