Man cave
« on: June 25, 2009, 10:12:03 AM »
Well I got tired of mopping the sweat up off the floor out in my shop. It's been at or close to 100 for more than a week now.

So today I went and got me an 8000BTU window unit. Now all I need is an intercom to hollar to the house and have the Mrs fetch me some beer when the fridge gets low in the cave.

I got the Bose Wave Radio cranked up on some Eric Clapton and I'm cleaning my guns to the sound of blues.

I gave her the pass word to get in the door.

Man,  damn the heat in the South this time of year.  The bad thing about it is the humidity.   You just suffer.  No evaporation at all, you soak your shirt, pants and you just stay wet.

Good going on AC in your shop.  It must have been miserible inside without AC.  We have a shop made of metal.  It was torture to be in there before ACed.

Man you guys are complaining about a little heat..:) When I lived in Southern California they had two seasons. Hot and Hotter..:) Now  I am in upper part of South Carolina and the temp is nice. We get shaded by the North Carolina Mountains here so it does not get as hot as the rest of the state.. It was a nice 84 degrees today and I sit and did a bit of shooting after I finished up work in the shop.. And I do have AC if I need it..:)

Good luck, - I don't know how you folks can live in that heat, - I couldn't do it. Anything over 70-75 is too hot. If I could I'd fast-forward to October right now, the two worst months of the year coming up - July & August.

Ron, it's been hotter than Hades in Tejas too!  My thermometer on the pine tree outside says 97 but it's always two degrees off!  Being from southern Cal we had heat but it can't touch the heat we get here!  I don't know if it's the humidity or what but I'm feeling it pretty regularly.

I like your idea of having a "Man Cave"!  I've kinda got one already but instead of having a pass code the lady-friend just waltzes her happy hiney on in whenever she wants!  Is the trick to having something separate from the house?  I've already got the keggerator, the mini-fridge and the A/C unit...  nothing in the likes of yours mind you(8000 BTU) but werks really well!

Good idea!

What's worse. I got my house AC set to 78 so it will kick off every now and then and save me money.

The 'MAN CAVE' is set to 75 on power save and is nice a chilly!

Just went outside and checked the temp.  Pegged on 100 degrees at 1540 hours. This in the shade.

It is so hot that the fish we pull out of the ponds are alreadly cooked and we just add them to the potatoes  simmering in the  kiddie pool.  Great fish stew.

The other day we aimed one of the do-dads that all you have to do is point it at what you want to know the temp of and it was 114 degrees on the  boards of fence  that was  being built.
And this is true.
