Tech Force 89 .22cal Rebuild w/Spring Compressor
« on: July 30, 2009, 06:34:41 AM »
Finally......It's finished.....Spent the last couple weeks in a labor intensive grind to build my first Spring Compressor and lubed tuned and adjusted my Tech Force 89 .22cal w/Centerpoint 4-16x40 AO/IR Scope,purchased from a fellow GTA forum member. The AG had a few issues for the previous owner. He said it was dry fired. I proceeded to disassemble the AG in my newly built spring compressor. Examined all the componets and everything seemed to be in order. I lubed the internals with JM moly and applied tar to the spring. Reassembled the AG and adjusted the trigger and test fired it. Whack!!! that was pleasure to my ears. no spring twang just a smooth sounding shot cycle. What a relief. Put about one hundred rounds of CPHP 14.3gr thru theAG, less than 1/2inch groups at 10meters......this is encouraging. Set up the Chrony and put ten rounds thru her to see whatvelocity she is delivering. Low 781.3 to high 786.9. Not too shabby for all stock internals. No tweaking at all, just lubes and tar. My overall opinion is this is truly a very nice,hard hitting, smooth firing AG. .......Shoot Safe and Enjoy.....Bill

Dang Bill ( if that is your real name )LOL.  What a collection of hand tools.  I was almost blinded by the many colors.  I have known  only  one  person that had a better selection  than  yours . And he worked at HOME DEPOT and had 'borrowed' them.( Heh Heh).

Anyway good going on building a spring compressor and  doing your own tune on your AG.

I hope this post sticks as I had one disappear today.
Gentleman of Fortune.

Hum-bug!

This is a picture of the tool you need to compress the spring. It was made by a friend for me by copying one I had made out of 1 inch dowel.

Hi Steve, I fabricated my tool from a 2 inch square block of hardwood and two four inch wood screws. I screwed the wood screws into the block of wood parallel to each other just shy of the IDwidth of tube, and cut the screw heads off. Good luck, Shoot Safe and Enjoy....Bill

Glad to see it's worked out for ya Bill! I feel pretty bad that it took so long, I hope she wasn't too messed up internally :0 I can still remember the feeling I had when my friend ashamedly handed it back to me and said it wouldn't cock; I'm relieved she's in hands so capable as yours.
I'm finally gettin' paid, and soon I'm going to have to decide if I want to get one of her twins, though I wouldn't mind something like that '52 of yours lol *dreamy sigh* Someday..

And a 5.6 fps spread! Looks like you could start selling tuning services  :o
Yea, though I walk through the garden in the shadows of pests,
I will fear no squirrel: For thou art with me;
thy scope and thy trigger, they comfort me.

Hi Eric, The rebuild was easy, soon as I got past the trigger group. I had to build a tool to get past the trigger first. With help from Bill aka billharmon2 and his design of a tool, I came up with my tool. A 2 inch square block of hardwood and two four inch wood screws, with heads cut off, screwed into the block parallel to each other just shy of the ID of the tube.After this was accomplished everything else was a matter of cleaning and degrease all parts and lube with, JM moly, thepiston, spring guide and lightly tar the spring.With all my tools, I needed another tool to get this lube tune accomplished. Thanks for your comments and may all your wishes come true. Shoot Safe and Enjoy .......Bill

PS My next project is to replace the the spring,spring guide and tophat on my Model 52 with a JMVRT kit w/Seal for RWS Diana 48,52,54.
