"Right" pellet for the Diana 52?
« on: August 24, 2009, 06:09:41 AM »
I'm fairly new here and I need some advice, I just bought a Diana 52 in .177 and wondered what pellet gave most shooters here the best accuracy. It's going to be used for small varmints and targets shooting. The brand and type( pointed, domed.etc.) don't matter. I realize all rifles have their preferences but I know that some of you folks have more experience with this rifle than I and will have some great ideas. I also wonder about which weights of pellets..Oh well, there's my problem. Anyone?

Clip welcome to GTA:)  Typically the 52 does not like light pellets at all, same for really heavy so I would stick with 8 to 10.5Gr range of weights. My 52 loves .177 Beeman FTS the best,   http://www.pyramydair.com/s/p/Beeman_Field_Target_Special_177_Cal_8_8_Grains_Round_Nose_500ct/336
The next would be the RWS Supermagnum 9.3gr weight  and the  third is .177 RWS superdome.  Remember that not all guns shoot the same... but these would be a good start in my opinion.
Hope you enjoy you 52 as i do mine, there is good info in the GTA library on shooting/hold methods for airguns.  BTW as example my german 52 lady can be sensitive... likes to be held on a flat palm or a rest at about 1  inch back from loading port area , light trigger grip , firm on little finger  lower palm only  and finally the butt medium against shoulder:)   Tony.

RELAX....BUDDY.... IN MY CASE I HAVE A RWS 48 ... IS THE SAME SHOOTING MECHANISM THAN A 52 BUT WITH A DIFFERENT WOOD DRESS (MONTECARLO WOOD STOCK) THAT IS ALL. MY RIFLE LOVES... CROSMAN PREMIERS 7.9. FOR SHORT DISTANCES (10-25 YARDS) AND FOR LONGER DISTANCE  (25-50 YARD), HEAVY CROSMAN PREMIER 10.5 PELLETS. GERALD

Thanks for the replies. I'm an old powder-burner and I'm quickly  finding out that air gunning is a whole new game! I had no idea that they were so hold-sensitive. I'm using mostly the 7 to 8+ grain pellets so I think I'm doing that part right.I have several different brands and styles of pellets so I just need to find the right combination. Thanks again.
