Crosman G1 Extreme from my "Quest" experience. Solid enough stock that "stuffing it" isn't nessecary. Light weight with great lines and style. "Irons" stick suck something aweful. Tuned and lubed,..mine feels like shooting a Daisy "Buck" bb-gun. But it'll fool ya!!!! Last reading through the chroney with proper lighting and alignment gave a result of 1010 to 1025 fps with RWS SD's!!!! My best Quest varient thus far!!!! But the Benji-Sher's are hard to beat with a little trigger modification!!!!! tjk

How much "sweat equity" are you wanting to put into this?
A Crosman 1377 out of the box makes a good shooter/plinker. With some added parts and effort it can be a nifty carbine or rifle too. Got about $90 wrapped up in this one, plus a bit of work....

Crosman Nightstalker is my favorite. Once I got those little things sorted out (found the right pellet mostly) it's incredibly fun plinker and even downs those magpies with two or three rapid shots. The accuracy is also quite acceptable after I mounted a scope on.

Another favorite is AR1000 + it's clones. Very good trigger, powerful and accurate. Even the build quality is OK.
If some is good and more is better - then too much is just right.
FWB-300SU, Drozd Blackbird, Gamo Hunter Sport, AR 1000, Crosman Nightstalker, ZC-4, Webley Tempest ...

You can get both of my favorites, upgraded sights, and a thousand pellets, all for $150 (if you shop around):

Daisy 953 single pump pneumatic target rifle ($60)
Upgraded sights for above ($30)
Crossman 1377 multi pump pistol ($50)
1000 qty. Crossman Copperhead wadcutters ($10)

I gotta chime in for the venerable benjamin sheridans in .177, .20 and .22. 2nd choice i'll go for a crosman 800x, and if is co2 you want you can't beat a tuned qb78/79

Older style Gamo Shadow 1000.  Can still be had and, what $30 for Charlie's trigger? makes it a decent all-around UNDER RATED rifle.

And, of course, the Ruger Air Hawk.

The Crosman Storm xt is a neat little cheap shooter too.I have one with about 1000 pellet's throught  it's just getting smoothed out now.I have a Daist 3-9x34 scope on it and even with my bad eyesight i can get dime size grps at thirty yd's. if i do my part. It's still all factory out of the box saving for a GRT111 lol.

If you want pin point accuracy out to 30 yards then the CZ Slavia 634 is an excellent target shooter at an average of 730 fps. If you can find one used it will serve your needs well. Not sold new here in the US any longer as far as I know. Once in a while you will see one in the classifieds. I bought mine new for $139.00 plus shipping.
THE ONES I SLEEP WITH: BSA Lightning XL, AA TX-200, AA ProSport, BSA Ultra, HW-97K, Crosman NPSS .177, FX Cyclone, HW-30 Nicle Plated, AA-S200, Crosman Marauder, CZ-634, R-9 DG, Webley/Scott UK Tomahawk, Benji Kantana, Benji Marauder, Benji Discovery.....

Daisy 953, Slavia 630/631, IZH 60/61, Gamo Delta
These are the ones that I have 1st hand experience with.
I would like to check out a co2 rifle, but in general I prefer self-contained guns (no hassle with gas).

SSP,
- Daisy 953 (my current favorite, BUT the trigger NEEDS to be deburred first)

Spring:
- Slavia 630/631 (unfortunately no longer imported, only negative is that it is LONG),
- IZH 60/61 (only the 61 is imported into the US),
- Gamo Delta (I think this has been discontinued, but is a short rifle for a smaller shooter like me)

All of my plinkers have red-dot sights on them.
The 953 also has a set of Gamo diopters.  The 953 + diopter sights comes in under $150, and makes a decent starter 10m target rifle.

I don't remember the cost of the Slavia, but the others you can put on a red-dot sight get a lot of pellets and still be under the $150 mark.

Yes, how could I forget? Lilysdad621 is right on with the Benjamin-Sheridan line up. Good sollid shooters. Been interested myself in a QB78 or 79.
