Hello Bob,

And WELCOME to the GTA Forums, theBEST Air Gun Forum on the Internet !!!!! And,, It's A Great Place to BE !!!!!

Well Bob,

I have had a Gamo 890S for the last 11 years, and it shoots fine, but ALL Gamos come with the worst trigger ever designed !!! NO CRAP !!!! Now Bob, CharlieDaTuna has corrected that problem with his GRT-III Replacement trigger, and out of the box, they are the best !!!!!!! And believe me, I receive no commissions for telling you, it's just my civic duty to Gamo owners, fellow Air Gunners !

It took me 8 years to find them on the Internet, and believe me, it has improved my Gamo several hundred percent !!!!!

So other than the trigger, the Gamo is a fine Air Gun for the money !

Now there are other Air Guns out there, and if I was in the market for a Good Reasonable Air Rifle right NOW ! I would be looking at a B-26, tuned by Mike Melick at Flying Dragon. com. They are Very Good copies of the Beeman R-9 air gun, and come with a copy of one of the best triggers made, the Rekord trigger. That is what I would buy ! It comes in .177 or .22 cal. This is perhaps the best Chinese air rifle out there.

I agree with Bill,,,,, get a B26 from Mike Mellick,,,,,,  you'll never be sorry....   The 440 is probably going to have that GAMO "twang", the trigger is going to be lousy and the gun is used...   Get a new B26 from Mike and you won't have any "twang", the trigger will be great and it'll be brand spankin new and tuned by Mike, and the price is extremely good, especially considering the fact that it's a tuned gun....

will i bought it for 85 bucks looks brand new still has all the stickers on. must have been a combo hast bsa scope on it and a case.  what pellets work best in it? I've been using RWS superpionts in my crosman 1077 to get a little more out of it.

Well Bob,

Like I said, I have a Gamo 890S, and it is the same as the 440 Hunter, except you received open sights on your air gun !

For serious hunting, Predator Premium Hunting Pellets can't be beat ! For fast, accurate and permanent results. For the times that you want to show off and hit all the targets go to JSB Exacts, these are very accurate, as are the Crosman Premium lites and Hollow Points. Then for having fun. I like the Benjamin Diabolo Pellets. They are still accurate, but less expensive !

Now every rifle has her likes and dis-likes, so yours may not be so happy with these, but many are !
