End of the World. 12-21-2012

There has been much made of predictions that the World will come to an end on December 21, 2012.   The History Channel even has a program devoted to the prophecy.
What I think would be interesting is ....What are your thoughts on this Prediction?  
Notice that I said 'Thoughts', not your feelings.   Do you think that this type of prediction could cause civil 'problems' for society as the date nears.  What  possible scenarios can you envision leading up to this event date?

I have my own thoughts but will hold then at this time  inorder not to influence replies.   If any.

I figure there is 3 years and 3 months till 12-21-2012.  So we may be able to kick this subject around for quite awhile.

If you believe in the BIBLE, it states that "NO MAN will know the time and day of MY second coming" !

So I take this prediction as I have ALL others, as a grain of salt !

However, such predictions have caused many others over the course of history to commit suicide, give ALL their positions to the religion of their beliefs, and just plain go mad.

I am sure that many will over react to this prediction, just as they have during all the past predictions of doom ! Remember the Year 2000 fiasco ! Weak minded people will always run around like headless chickens, perhaps 50 - 70% of them ?

I try to live each day to the fullest that I can, as well as being as prepared each day as if it were my last ! I have been as ready to be gathered, collected or die, for most of my life ! I have all ways tried to live the best life as I have been capable of !

I have always been curious as to why people so in love with GOD, would fear death so vehemently ? After all, isn't that your final reward ?

But I can understand the atheist, they face oblivion !

Sounds like Y2K all over again. First we had the false one (2000) and then the real one (2001) and we are all still here.

Hey, when is that comet due back? The world is going to end every year according to the media. No wonder so many people took interest-only loans.

Isn't global warming supposed to toast us all before 2012 unless we have a massive tax increase and battery operated cars, anyway?

just live life to the fullest cause some of us might not make it to see 12-12-2012 like thru out history this world was supposed to be distroyed by fire/floods/quakes/tidal waves and all others i belive if you belive in god and trust in him it should not really matter unless if you dont then i kinnda feel bad for you good luck and shoot safe.

OK,  The input is looking pretty good so far.   How about some you others out there adding your thoughts.

I am not saying that I am in the DOOM camp due to the fact that if things happen the way they , the History Channel, have laid out the future there is nothing you could do.  Except be right with your Maker.

Find your "true self" and the rest will just fall into place. Life has a cycle, that is all there is to it. You have four seasons -  Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter. I time to be born, a time to die. The problem is that we adhere too much to this physical body that we don't see all the possibilities beyond it. Think of this "life" as an elementary school, once you have learned the things you need to learn here you will eventually have to use another realm to advance your knowledge about who you really are.

There was a sage who once said "If given the choice whether to choose between the issues of the world against the issue of the self, I would choose the latter." Just my 2 cents bro'.

Many people say that date is just the end of the calendar or something related to that. Otherwise, it's impossible to know for sure whether or not such an event will ever take place. But what fascinates me is that the Mayan culture has predicted many things in the past, and appeared to be true. Maybe this is no different? It will remain a mystery....we won't know until the time comes. Until then, let's just live everyday best we can and get as much shooting and plinking into our schedule as we possibly can! Not to mention getting together and do some targeting as well =]

I love all these old predictions.  No one ever stops to consider that the current calendar was jacked around and re-ordered by more than a few days back in the 1700's.  So, is 12/12/12 12/12/12 or should it be 12/06/12 or maybe 12/21/12???  What day is it today?  Where am I?  Who cares?  

Come 12/12/12 let's everyone have a nice, tall 7&7.

Well Ya'll,  I can tell that you are taking this  12-21-2009 date about as seriously as I am.   I mean if there is to be total destruction then there is no need to stock up on Beenie-Wienies or the like.

The main thing that troubles me is the date of the 21st. of December.   Suppose I wait to get Christmas gifts and the world does not end.  Then I'll be forced  into the fray with all the other last minute  Christmas shoppers.  Last minute shopping for Christmas is one of the worst tortures I can think of.   All the good stuff is gone.

Just in case,  believe I will plan a big Thanksgiving event for family and friends.

The way I see it, is it'll be the same as Y2K. Only peoples lives will be involved. SO, in the weeks and months leading up to that date there will be those chicken little minded people who will inevitably cause shortages of canned foods, bottled water, MRE's, survival equipment, medical supplies, guns, AMMO and ammo making supplies. Because of the Demand for all these things, vendors will end up doubling their prices and people WILL PAY therefore stimulating the sellers monop-economy.

When 12-21-2012 comes then goes and people see that NOTHING WHAT SO EVER has come to pass...EBay, Craigslist, local newspaper classifieds, gun shows and any other sales venue will be flooded with surplus items from the big "End of the world Buy-Out". And I'll be buying all my stuff for rock bottom prices again

The only thing i can think of is that we'll be counting down to just under 30 days till another peaceful regieme change....   I wonder what letter will be missing from the keyboards this time?

its a scary thing but i believe in GOD and this is gonna happen if u read revalation and these predictions came from st. john of devine who wrote the book of revalation cause of dreams he was havin .just have fun and enjoy what we have left .my concept is shoot,shoot,shoot and fun,fun,fun thats it we will be like the dinosaurs that perished in the ground ...GOD BLESS US ALL....
