The bead-headed nymphs are always a good pattern, and so are the wolly worms.  Panfish, bass, and trout, eh?  How about some dry flies?  Caddis hairs?

Too cool (cold) for surface fishing for warmwater species , that's the reason for the subsurface flies for now. There are a few beetle flies in the box . An interesting tidbit, I recently read, that sort of ties ( no pun intended ) flyfishing and airguns is; when casting , if you hear a pop on your backcast , it's the fly actually breaking the sound barrier , just like a pellet does when going faster than the speed of sound . Not a good thing with either IMO . Breaking the sound barrier with a pellet can disrupt the pellet's flight , opening up your group , and with casting ; you could break off your fly . I suggest slowing both of them down . How's that Dano !! . kirby

Thanks Josh . Here's a nice place that has some good patterns to go by . [ http://www.warmwaterflytyer.com/welcome.asp ] I buy my materials from Cabelas and Bass Proshops . Google some of the fly names like "Clouser " along with "how to tie" and you can find a lot of videos on you-Tube , that will show how to tie them. I've been tying for about 25 years off and on and my flies are getting better , I think so anyways . LOL I get a lot of satisfaction in catching fish on something I tied . BTW the fish can't tell how experienced you are , even if your flies don't look like store bought ones , they'll still catch fish. kirby

Beautiful work David !

I ounce tied flies myself, and yours are GREAT !!!

I always hated it when I put too much cast on the fly, and the leader tipripped off, loosing my precious hand tied fly :0

A little to much enthusiasm at times, trying to place that fly just where you believe the fish are :o

But certainly beautiful flies David ! And these COLD, COLD days are just what what the doctor ordered for fly tying, along with a nice warm toddy:emoticon:
