airgun money? I saw this posted on another forum and thought it would be a good question for the family.  Be seroius. One guy said "Sell my body"  Heck, If that were me it would be more like, " Heres the airgun you wanted, now put yer clothes back on!!!" :0

I work at home, so the money I'd spend on food, clothing and commuting, including vehicle care and maintenance, goes into my "discretionary purchases fund".
That gets broken down into "motorcycle/powder-burner/air rifle/mechanical watch/butterfly knife/tools-I-can't-live-without" money. Depending on the season and my level of interest, the percentages will self-adjust to suit.

I'm also a firm believer in "buy cheap-buy twice", so I buy the very best I can rationally justify. I'd rather have two very nice of something than 10 cheap-ass somethings.

Funny that you should ask this question.



Along time ago, as I watched my mother and stepfather practice marriage, I noticed that there were two ways to go through marriage. Already having toys to play with or begging your wife for the money to buy them !



I decided to have everything that I wanted before marriage ! and to buy, sell and trade if something new came along.



Even with this intelligent approach to marriage, it does have its pitfalls, when your wife sees you with a new or better toy, she will want somethingalso ! Something that she doesn't have anything that she wants to sell or trade to get, and they never give up anything ounce they have it ! So you will have to buy it for her before the crying, begging and screaming starts. So always keep this in mind, that you will need double the money to buy your toys, and hers !



So, I sell and trade my pre-marriage toys to get my post-marriage toys, and my wife's :0



It has worked for me for 35 years ? So far, so good !



And it was working much better before I discovered the GTA Forums, and this darn air gun addiction :emoticon:

I fix bikes and cars or do metal fab work on the side. Sometimes a custom paint job or two when the opportunities present themselves and the fire marshal is on vacation hehehe.

Side Jobs kinda dried up lately though.

I do college and high school tutoring for chemistry, biology, and math.
The extra cash feeds my hobby, and my wife doesn't mind, because it also helps out for trips to restaurants and coffee shops.

I'm spending my Kids inheritance and I don't feel guilty about it. I'm trying to live by that "all things in moderation" thing, but sometimes it hard to do. Because I am an addict.

Gambling. I play poker and actually win enough to support my habit. I keep a spread sheet so I don't fool myself. I play pretty much every fantasy sport and have been pretty lucky.

put a little money a side every week. check classifieds for good deals, then resell them at a profit, then again, and again, til you get close enough. then negotiate...

I'm retired and live off the pension but both my kids are grown and out on their own now and I've finally finished paying off their college bills so the wife and I can finally start spending what extra money we may have on ourselves  :D

I'll also sell items on eBay at times in order to come up with extra money.

I also make sure I look around for the very best deal possible before I purchase a new toy.
