offering low powered tune for Big Cat 1200

Greetings.
Im new to here, invited by Charlie from Charliedatune.
now I wanted to get Big Cat 1200 in lawful outtah here Im livin in Japan...
I do Room Air Precision Shooting (10~15 meters with rifle - standing) with my Gas operating Rifle but its almost controlled by temperature.
and so I want to get Gamo Air n search a lot of web shop n Forums, reviews.
then I met the Big Cat 1200, is great shape, lookin oldschool, I love it...
well, here we has the rule for energy that the Air/Gus Rifle/Pistol cannot has the power over 1 Joule...
its, about under 250~260 FPS with 5 grain pelllet.
and also JP Customs does not allow to import this kind of powerful Rifle ( they check the power @ customhouse.)
So I want to meet the man who could buy it and weakened tuning like,, change the mainspring to super weak one or something simple method.
I have the budget $300 + SHIPPING for this offer.
someone might say buy toy gun ot something but my target is Gamo Big Cat.
please understand :0

does anyone can do this tuning? or are there any other good tuning shop which can be order online?

That's going to be very, very low powered for such a gun. The pellet's travel time in the long barrel ("dwell time") might make it difficult to shoot well. I guess you could find a spring weak enough, but it might also make the piston's travel time sluggish, as well. May be better to look at one of the Gamo's similar to the Big Cat but with a smaller fps. Modifying a power plant designed to shoot around 900 fps is going to be difficult if, indeed, possible. Your speed limit is below a BB gun's. I'm wondering if you might be better served by a detuned Daisy 953. Not a springer but a good indoor gun and it starts at 450 fps. I'm thinking it could be reduced with a little work and still be accurate.

It may be possable to do the same as the 500fps Quest for the canadin market..
They have a small holed drilled though the piston crown with a tophat that has
vent slots milled in it...So  diffrent hole sizes would  tune the power out put..

PS...TIP of the day...
If you have a 500fps Quest....Put a O-ring in the rescess in the tophat
to stop the air...and its a 1000fps gun again...

Read where he is - Japan. Canada restricts to below 500 fps. He's at a little more than half that. My concern is any springer designed to shoot above 450 fps (considering the Air Hawk is sold at that rating in Canada) will not perform well under 300 fps. And he has to pass a test in order to receive the gun. My gut tells me that below 300 fps a springer just won't shoot well.

well is it so hard to send me the BC1200 which has no mainspring or super weakened? of course I will paid for the help. even though... my budget is $300 for this plan, and BC1200 is $130~$150 from some web shop.

Kiwi....those are fantastic ideas.  What about welding shut that hole in the piston crown.....would that work?

Why not tap it and insert a threaded plug? Maybe even silver solder?

If a very tight piston seal is installed it should work. ST replaced his seal and it just go pftt until he took some material off to shoot right. this should make Raj BC to pass inspection then just either replace or sand the side for proper fit.

One possible solution:

Take off the top hat. Take out the rear spring guide block. After doing that you shorten the piston spring in such a way that there is no spring preload at all. Use a very loose fitting piston seal to literally allow air to bleed through the piston seal. Take off the breech seal on the barrel. Cut off about 6 - 8 inches from the length of the barrel and then do a chrony test. If it is still a bit high then cut some more coils on the spring. Your only objective in doing this is to pass custom certification. Once you're good to go ship the original parts in a separate package and just re-install everything.

Using the Crosman G-1 Extreme as my platform from 850FPS I've lost about 300FPS by just simply forgetting to install the breech seal! LOL! My mistake but that mistake later taught me that there are a lot of ways to detune an airgun to shoot better. Hehehe. at 550FPS the recoil is very light making the G-1 good for paper targets.

Good luck. Too bad I can't do this experiment for you since I can't afford to buy a Big Cat right now and test this mod.
