New Whisper from cabelas
« on: December 23, 2009, 09:19:54 AM »
Just received my new Gamo whisper DX and found out  it has the new plastic trigger in it. Is there anything that can be done with it  or should I send it back? :emoticon:

I think your answer is right at the top of the Gamo page in Charles  message about the new Gamos.

Plastic trigger? Sounds like you have one of the new ones.

STOP

NOTE FOR GAMO OWNERS: If you have a late model Gamo with a plastic trigger and safety, the GRT-III trigger will not work. If in doubt, check it with a magnet. If it is plastic do not order the GRT-III.

That sucks, I'm sorry to hear you got a new one.  I just bought a Whisper DX from my local cabelas and was lucky enough to find that it has the original metal trigger in it.

Not sure what can be done with the new triggers but it definitely rules out the GRT  :(

Perhaps one of the other members with experience with the new trigger can tell you what, if anything, you can do.    I'm sure it will lighten up over time with use, but that might take a while.....

Cornwell kidd, just welcoming you to the GTA forum and family.  Sign of the times....In a few more months all the Gamos with their "Old" steel triggers would be sold out....and anyone buying a Gamo will have the "New" plastic trigger and safety.  So far it seems the trigger unit is pretty much sealed and not much can be done to improve the trigger.  Even the Crosmans will have new triggers......not sure....but I think the new Crosmans' triggers could still be improved by swapping in a GRT III trigger.

If the reports are anything close to true, I'd send it back in a flash. Fortunately, Cabela's is pretty good about such things.

You answered your self correctly.......send it back. Without a CDT trigger in it, it is just another gun.

Cabela's happens to have an excellent return policy. Read what Charlie the fish has to say about this situation. I don't know if anyone has torn down more Gamos!!!! I must have said this a thousand times, but he took 4 Gamos that were fun, and made them into tack driving monsters!!! If he says no.........it's no!!!!!!! Hope it works out bro.

Why'd you buy it from Cabela's and not from Pyramyd Air or Air Gun Depot?

No joke!!!!!!! Not sure if he ever gave one of your guns a tune, but I cannot list all the improvements after one!!!! Quieter, MUCH less movement, smoother cocking action, more fps, more consistent fps, fast turn around, great communication............................he was the best!!! And on top of all that, he is the coolest dude to deal with!!!!! When you shoot a Whisper that was tuned with a GRT, then shoot one out of the box, you would swear they were different guns!!!!! As I said, he did 4 for me, I will never give any one of them up!!!
