Jason,,, my .22 cal M-rod is still bone stock and it's shooting so nicely I don't plan on changing a thing :)
Mine arrived set up by the factory for a 2500 psi fill and it performs so well I just left all the factory settings in place. The only adjustment I made has to do with the trigger and all I was lighten the trigger pull by giving the adjustment screw 2 full turns. It lightened the trigger up nicely and it's now perfect for me.
As for accuracy,,,, with the right pellets my M-rod is amazing. Mine hates anything "JSB" but it likes several other pellets that hunt just fine for me including FTS, brown box CPL's, CPHP's, Predators and of course Kodiaks. The Kodiaks are the rifles all time favorite and that's what I'm using in her now. All of the pellets I've mentioned will shoot dime sized groups from my M-rod but the Kodiaks will literally stack pellet on top of pellet all day if I do my part.
As for FPS and shot count....... I did extensive chrony testing on my rifle when I first got it and I was really impressed with the numbers. Starting with a full 2500 psi fill and shooting 14.3 gr pellets I did 60 shot strings. The Fps would start out around 850, steadily rise to the 920 range where it would stay for around 20 shots and then it would slowly decline until at shot #60 I was back in the low 800's. The sweet spot on my rifle seems to be from 2300 - 1900 psi. This is, as I said, all with factory settings.
When I did chrony testing with the 21 gr kodiaks I did 50 shot strings. Again, starting on a 2500 psi fill it would start out in the high 700's, rise to the low 900's where it would stay for around 20 shots and then it would very slowly decline until at shot #50 I was back in the 700's.
When I first got my M-rod I did have a problem with occasional flyers, but the rifle had the "old" baffles in it that weren't bored out large enough and it was causing a clipping problem. I called Crosman and they express shipped me a set of the "new" baffles and once I installed the new baffles the flyers disappeared.
As for the rifles weight,,,,, I don't find it particularly heavy but remember, it comes with sling swivels already installed. I put a nice sling on my M-rod and I can roam the woods all day with the rifle and never get pooped out :)
Hope this helps ya out.....
I'm looking forward to ordering a .25 cal M-rod when they become available.....
