I have the SS in 22 cal. and I like the looks and feel of the gun without a doubt. Mine was a monster out of the box but after about 600 rounds it has started to calm down and I feel like it could be made a great shooter with somemore work. Gun is twangy at first and tough to cock, it has a heavy spring in it. The recoil is fairly heavy with this gun too, need to check your scope mounts and adjusting turrent lockdowns regularly while shooting this gun. Never did try mine with the open sights, old age and deteriorating vision make the open sights pretty useless to me anymore. The Centerpoint scope that comes with the gun looks great and performs excellent, the only drawback is the eye relief on the scope is short and hard to get it just right for me at least. The glass is clear and powerful, and the illuminated recticle is a neat feature. If you do get one don't waste your time with a 15 gr. or less pellet, you need something with some mass in this gun to keep it controlable. Mine shoots 1" groups at 25 yards with JSB Exact Heavies 18.2 gr. and this is the best pellet I have found for this gun and only got these in about 2 week ago and was really impressed with the performance of the gun since then. The only thing I have done to my gun is clean it and drop in Bobs' (aka. Charliedatuna) GRT-III trigger, this is a must have. If you order this gun go ahead and order the trigger at the same time from Bob and get you some heavy pellets with it and save yourself some time and missery going thru the light weight stuff that is available at the local Wally world and sporting goods stores. I don't know what the best price is on-line for this gun, but I got mine at the local Academy for 260.00 about 4 months ago, with shipping and all it may be about the same (and you don't have to wait for the brown Santa to bring it). Without the GRT-III trigger this gun is a big dissapointment, DO NOT and I repeat DO NOT even consider buying this gun without ordering this trigger!!!! Bob is one of the greatest gentlemen you'll ever have the pleasure of doing business with and his reputation for helpfulness and integrity are above and beyond those of any other I have had the privilage to associate with even if only thru this forum and my own purchases. Go ahead and punch the button and get that baby on order, I don't think you'll be sorry you did IMHO. Good luck and let us know what comes of it when you do. Happy New Year.
