350 fire sales?
« on: January 04, 2010, 06:48:51 AM »
I am seeing a lot of these rifles lately at very low prices. From brand new in stores to the deals in classified here and elsewhere.

What is driving the low pricing?

I noticed the same. Perhaps they feel they need to compete with the Chinese guns that are coming out? I had a 350 that I bought for testing and figured I could turn around and sell it for a decent price...I tried and then gave up and decided to trade. I finally got a trade for an RWS 48 that fits my collection better...but see you can get those for $199!! Something is clearly changing the playing field...

Don't have a 350 but most posts state that they take some time to learn to shoot well. I think a lot of guys with magnumitis buy them, shoot ten or twenty rounds and then decide the gun's not for them. Those that have stuck with it say they love them. Someone's loss is another's gain.

There may be several reasons for the rash of M350’s appearing on the selling/trading block as of late. My thoughts are that some people may have purchased them, and then realized that as a magnum springer, they can be difficult to shoot accurately if your technique is not exactly on. Others (like me) may be selling or trading to put the funds toward other purchases.
Several years ago the M350 was the talk of the town and everyone was interested in them. Now, different rifles are the flavor of the month.  In my case I already had a .22 cal when I bought the .177, so it didn’t really bring anything to the table. There are some great deals on M350’s to be found on occasion if you keep an eye on the classifieds.

My two cents,...I think it's more 'difficulty shooting' than the cheaper out sourcing from the Far East. They are a 'step up' challenging rifle to shoot if you want power and distance afield. but like RF stated,...if you stick with them,...you'll love them,..or in my case,...be well rewarded for the fruits of your labor. I've never owned a real Diana 350, but others that have shot my B-28's always say "shoots like a 350 to me". The nicer stock and slightly closer component tolerances would just be an added plus. The JM spring  is a smooth shooting mechanism, but the OEM springs give raw power,...and more kick to boot. Call it a 50/50,..... I doubt I'll ever part with my B's though,...I'll just save up for another "BB-Gun"!!! tjk

These are for .177. you would be giving up 3+ fpe over .22. Kind of a waste as these are hunters not target guns. Most of the ones siting on the classifieds are either .177 or have no open sights.

Your right !!! You would be better off w/ a 34 in .177.  Lighter and easier to cock.

I bought 2 rws 350 .22 recently, 1 for me and the other for my brother in law.

The rifle is long, a little strong to cook for some people and heavy weight with long scopes.

In addition with no magnum experience technique to shoot it you will  have difficulties to shoot accurate.

I my case I love it. / GERALD

There may be better prices. I can't say for all those prices you listed, but my .22 M52 was (IIRC) right around $270 shipped.

With most sales being done over the internet buyers are not aware how heavy these airguns are.  The weight doesn't become apparent until you have it in your hands, 8+ lbs and then add a scope, they are getting up there in weight.  This was a consideration for me not to purchase one after taking a 350 off the rack at Cabelas.  Just my guess as to what could be part of the reason for  this trend.
