I almost feel sorry for those starlings! I'm jealous that you've spent so little money to get three great guns.
I retired the old Daisy pumper as the skunks are just ignoring it when it hits them at 30 plus yards. Down the stairs I went and got out "Old Reliable" my Sheridan 5mm. Talking about sending Skunks running! I lobbed a 5 mm pellet into one at 30 yards and sent it moving away at high speed. I'm actually concerned that the foot lbs on my old gun can really penetrate the skin at that range. I could see the pellet though and it looked like a rainbow.

No doubt it STUNG!
When I was in the Army I took that gun to the field with me to shoot while I was goofing off. Well we were on a machine gun range firing tens of thousands of rounds from our tanks. I jumped off the tank for a meeting. I'd only went about 30 yards when something hit me in the temple just underneath my helmet. I blacked out for a second and hit the ground. All I could figure was that I was hit by a spent 7.62 mm round.
I rolled over on my back and felt the blood running down my head. I was shaking when I reached up and FELT THE BULLET sticking out of my skin! Imagine my shock when it was a 5 MM PELLET! My tank crew thought they would shoot near me to rattle me and hit me in the HEAD!
I had a hard time explaining the wound in my head to the medics. They patched me up. Those guys went on KP everytime it was available! I put them on EVERY detail I could put them on!
To this day I have a scar on my temple. Though it has faded over the years, it still looks like a tiny gun shot wound. In 10 years in the Army that was the only time anyone actually shot at me.
