sucks to hear about the scope....So overall you are happy with the gun and it's advertised performance? You know ...I think there are a lot of people reading this and making a $300 decision just like me.

I recieved my trail XL a week ago.. Its not a rifle I will pack hunting!! Yea it has alot of power, but its just to big, heavy & clumbsy to pack around in the woods.. As for the scope, the adjustments knobs are exposed, you cant lock in your settings & it doesn't track worth a hoot! So, if I was gonna use the rifle for hunting, I would want a different scope anyhow..

I have a friend that has the NP XL & he is using the H&N 21.10 gr. it is stacking pellets @ 30yards off the bench.
Just like my standard NP but mine likes the JSB 18.1
Great riffles, when I ordered mine I also ordered a leapers 3-9x44
He has the stock scope on his & has not had any problems yet.
