Shroud Stuff

Okay all you very talented folks,strut your stuff. LOL

I'm wanting to try my hand at making some shrouds. Bear in mind I am not a machinest nor doI have that line of equipment available. Just a LOT of general shop tools available. I HAVE seen somevery good examples of shroudsyou folkshave built that did not have a machine shop atyour disposal. And you guys that DO have the equipment and talent, I'veseen some WAY KEWL and exceptionally fine work you've done. I envy you!!!!!

Anyway, I wanted to ask you guys to post pictures, material listand steps you took to create your masterpieces. Tips, tricks and hints VERY welcome and appreciated. Maybe I can follow suit and create my own with your help. I'm going to buy some aluminum pipe this weekend to start experimenting. If any of you machinists have the time, material and wouldn't charge the cost of a new gun (LOL), I'd be interesed in seeing what you can do too (and what cost). Show us your stuff and many THANKS!!!!

Dave I have make at least a 100 barrel shrouds. But I have all the equipment and tools. Ihave seen allot of very nice home made barrel shrouds also. Timmy made one out of a wooden dowel..:) After he was done you could not tell it was wood. Just saw another one made from grey pvc with a solid plug on each ene. The barrel end was drilled to snuggly fit over the barrel and the end had a plug also which was drilled for the pellet hole. I am sure allot of guys will chime in and I wish you the best.

As Gene indicated, aluminum, or even metal for that matter isn't a prerequisite for shroud material. PVC, wood (wood!?!?!), various plastics... sometimes what ever you can find laying around or cheap.
I like to go to my local hardware store (not a big box... a real hardware store) and just wander the isles. It's amazing what you see that triggers (no pun intended) a response in your brain for making a "widget", "thing-a-ma-bob" or "chingaso".
Of course the flip side of that is you buy a bunch of "hardware" to make your masterpiece, and before you know it you have more invested in your DIY bit than had you just bought one ready to go. I'd bet a price quote from Gene would have you re-considering... unless your like me and you write off the cost as a "learning experiance".

And Gene, I would gladly like to get a quote for your fine work if you have the time. Looking to shroud my Benji Super Streak and my new QB57. Let me know your thoughts and prices. HeeHee....I'm open for suggestions. I like the fluted job you did for your Benji SS project. Was hoping you might consider a complete mod kit for my SS. I have yet another .22 barrel on the way that has the factory muzzle break installed. (and had a heck of a time getting a factory muzzle break) I can use one of these barrelsto chop if needed but was looking to keep the same length barrel and just shroud it. Ported, non-ported, fluted, use your imagination and creative mind. Whatever is easiest and still looks good. Let me know the cost. Drop me an email or pm.
