Rib, how do you like your Disco, compared to all your QB's??

Like them quite well, but are differences.
Down tuned that one to 17 foot pounds for a much longer sweet spot.

HPA QB's will give a LOT more consistent shots per fill, but it takes a LOT more pumps to fill a QB's 13ci bottle.  All in all, the down-tuned Discovery can give about 1 shot per pump if i stay in the sweet spot (hand pump), so generally I'll shoot 40shots and give it 40 pump strokes, etc.  With the HPA converted QB's, takes about 140-150 pumps to get the bottle up from 900 psi to 3000psi, and about 100 shots.

Not definative as i've only owned 2 Discos, but accuracy seems to be about even... looks like the luck-of-the-barrel-lottery has about the same odds.

QB's are easier to take apart and don't have that hated rinky-dink breech screw that Crosman does... and becasue of that, the QB's breech is more stable to the gas tube than the Crosman.

Worked over Discovery trigger works about as well as an adjusted QB trigger... but you have to add screws to the Disco, the Qb already has them.

78D type stock is a lot nicer SHAPE than the Discovery.  You might get lucky and find good wood under the QB factory finish, might not, have found some real ugly wood under some, but the style/shape of the delux QB stock is more pleasing to me than the fish-belly style of the Discovery.

Thanks for the comparison Rib. I know I could get the facts straight from you.

Thanks Gene, Rob. Now ...On both of your guns , it looks as though you are using just one barrel band moved forward. How is this working for you? And do you think it is just a myth about needing two after adding the tko or in general?

Deception.  There are two bands at work, but i'm still testing to see if this configuration is any better.

With the factory front sight base/"brake" atrtached: about where the factory put it.

Without the factory front sight base/"brake" : close to the end of the gas tube.

Difference being that the front sight base is kind of "cupped" to the gas tube, and helps keep the barrel at least a little stable. the TKO brake can't do this (or you'd never get to the fill nipple)..so most folks seem to end up with the band closer to the end of the gas tube.

But you try it in different spots, see what works and what doesn't.
